The web based client has been doing this on and off for a couple of months now. It's affecting a few people as there have been several threads mentioning the same error message. Some nights I can get in and others present the message you've posted.

The guy who runs the IRC is apparently aware of it.

In the mean time I've been using Xchat ( http://xchat.org/ ) and not had any problems connecting.

No seriously, I was sooooo all about the Flash Client until these recent failings.
Now that I've actually run and used XChat, I don't think I'll ever go back to the Flash Client.

It also helps that I'm registered with Nickserv or whatever the hell so I can put my Auth commands into the config and when I launch XChat it auto-joins my preferred rooms after authenticating with /msg authserv auth Blaise ***********

Im using mirc and cannot connect. cant connect through flash either.

I can connect through mIRC fine. It's just a bit tricky getting it all set up.

Not sure about this Xchat though. After downlolading I started it up it and it asked me for my social security number, picture ID, fingerprint, and a stool sample. I got scared and just threw out my hard drive.

WildIRC is down. The DNS does not resolve. Maybe one could hypothetically connect if they had the IP address, but I do not have it. It has been down since about 5pm Pacific time today the 19th.

If anyone has any alternatives I would love to hear them. Makes buying a frenzied really hard!

65.85.167.249 is what irc.wildirc.net resolves to.

Not that it matters, Xchat is still connecting just fine by dns name.

Dunno what Zombie is talking about. Xchat was by far the easiest to obtain and configure of all IRC clients I've checked into.

Good lord, I did a whois and the admin's e-mail domain (travelingmailbox.com) is also not resolving. What gives?

Word to the wise: Apparently, don't use 1&1 as a registrar or host.

I got nothing tonight from Wildirc, got home 20 mins ago. mIRC had disco'd and tried to reconn 99 times, and gave up. So no IRC here.

How am I supposed to scoff at newbs with no Relay chat???

Forums also slow. Game server is a steady 56 ping though.

Perhaps an issue with your service provider? Tracert to the IP I just posted and see where it stops.
I just connected again via Xchat and there's people there and talking, so I dunno what's going on with you guys.

I wondered if it was me but I'm not the only one experiencing it.

I changed my DNS to Google's 8.8.8.8 but it hasn't helped. Very strange. DNS is such a god damn dinosaur, I really wish we could unfuck that situation. My Tracert dies very early.

I do have dns, resolved wildirc as: 64.85.167.249

Seems like I <we> are gated.
