Puzzling - Animals disappearing from a boat.

Hi folks,

I had ten animals on a boat last night. I last interacted with them all at 2am, I left a char logged in on the boat all night and when checked at 11am all but one animal had vanished. (Note: these times did not include a server restart as I'm on UK time).

The character's journal shows NO activity occurring during the night - From my last use of 'hide' last night to checking this morning there is nothing there but a row of world save messages - No people, no mobs, no attacks, no nothing.

I'd understood an animal will stay where it is for 20 hours after it was last interacted with (a la house sheep farm), so I'm somewhat puzzled by where my animals have gone.

Any suggestions?
