Re: Tinkering Guide

But will it still get him to GM, eventually? Or will he eventually stop gaining before he hits GM? I'm also begining to work on a tinker and I won't mind wasting ingots to make lockpicks over the more efficient heating stands, considering that lockpicks I create will be used by my thunter, while hea...

Re: lich lords

600 is about right. It might have had a 2% chance on up to 700 or 900 (but comparing this to balron loot could be somewhat retarded). I honestly remember getting close to 900 but only ONE time and no gem that one time. As long as a magic item drops at least 1 of 20 times (and less often gems) then ...

Re: You guys just made my year (new player)

Welcome to UOSA! First tip: Sparring with another player isn't a good way to raise your melee skill here. Try hitting on a hired NPC or just about anything other than a player. You'll always find a bunch of helpful people (and a maybe few trolls) on IRC and the forums and there are many guilds that ...

That's why everyone used BSes on them - therefore why there was always so much competition when trying to land the final blow/get loot/etc.

Re: Additional incorrect creature mechanics (ogre lords)

Regarding the EV's....They used to ignore Ogre lords completely. This has nothing to do with all the recent debates regarding proper EV placement on these forums. Blade spirits were the only useful tactic for ogre lords back then---mana dumping took forever. I believe it had something to do with EV...

Me too... IIRC, you couldn't take two hits from an Ogre Lord without healing yourself.

Re: New to the shard.

I'm pretty new here too, but DG and C^V seem to be guilds that help out new players a lot, I'll let them confirm this. So far, there seem to be people hanging out just about everywhere, but West Brit bank is obviously the most crowded spot, although it's mostly filled with AFK-macroers and thieves. ...

Re: pvp hotkeys (coming from divinity)

Works great unless you forget to hold shift while you type. Hell, I can't even remember to turn off my hotkeys. You know how many times I've hit myself with an explode-ebolt combo cuz I started running my mouth? Yesterday, I said "lol" and GHed the person I was fighting! LOL Yeah, I alway...

Re: pvp hotkeys (coming from divinity)

they require the use of "disable razor hotkeys" to chat though. 8) Not really, I use similar macros, all you have to do is keep CAPSLOCK always on and press shift when you want to type. That way, when you don't hold shift, you'll be using your macros (and typing in CAPS), while when you h...

Re: How did your UO Jorney Begin?

Hamrlik, Thats actually kinda funny. He got you mining for him lol. What a friend :) Hehe, I know... It was a small price to pay, I guess, to thank him for introducing me to this game. Then again, the first quality a UO player MUST have to make it in the pre-Trammel era is patience. Nothing spells ...

Re: How did your UO Jorney Begin?

A friend (who I met playing Diablo) came over to my house for the week-end, some time in '97 and brought his UO CD with him. He thaught me how to mine (the mountains just West of Trinsic...), I mined for him every time he wasn't playing his account, before I actually bought my own game.

Re: Skill gain based on targets skill level

I agree with what's being said on this thread... I just (almost) GMed fencing on two different characters back to back, on the same Grizzly bear. I also had a bard macroing Provoke on the Grizzly, targeting himself so it didn't fight back too much. For the first character, the bear was hitting back ...
