I'm confused. What do points have to do with anything? Why do you need points as an incentive to enter a PvP tournament? It's clear you want to PvP. Why is it that points are necessary too?Tron wrote:Bottom line from a pvpers stand point. The pvp events brought everyone out. For a little bit, almost guaranteed, during the event, and after. The world pvp was much more active and bucs den looked like it should. Full of reds, blues, and bodies.

You never took part in an event pre-removal of points so you don't know the difference between a pvp event then, and a pvp event now. I'll post some pics later of what an event turnout was like when there was incentive.
Re: Temporary Compromise/Fix for Trophies
I'm not arguing that, I believe you. I'm just surprised, on a shard/forum where 50% of the posters whine about PvP, there's not enough PvP, where is the good PvP, there's no PvP at Buc's anymore, yada yada yada... when there is a PvP tournament, they don't participate unless there's ANOTHER incentive?
It sounds like, because people care so much about the pixels, THEY don't want to do it anymore. What a bummer.Tron wrote:It's a slap in the face to know that there is this great time waiting to be had, but because people care so much about pixels, we're not allowed to do it anymore.

Mikel, it's crazy but the difference is profound. CTF would be 15-30 vs 15-30. Now, it is 3v3 and 2v2.
DD is the same -- You would have a full game with 30+ players, now you need to twist arms in IRC to get 6 people to show up.
For whatever reason, trophies play a key role in peoples' reasoning when they decide whether or not to play an event. Also, before, people would "stay" on for events and log on for them. This made it so that a larger segment of the playing population was active (ie, not macroing) during a few periods each day.

DD of course pretty much is a broken game when more than 10 people show up.Fwerp wrote:Mikel, it's crazy but the difference is profound. CTF would be 15-30 vs 15-30. Now, it is 3v3 and 2v2.

Yes, it is very hard to get a domination in a populated game, but vying for getting a positive kill to death ratio is still very fun, and an important part of both over-populated and adequately-populated games.
