spawn north of Minoc (lack thereof)

For ideas on how to make Second Age a better shard. Can it get any better? Maybe.

spawn north of Minoc (lack thereof)

Post by Gilgamesh »

On Catskills during t2a (and I'm assuming still) there was a lower level monster spawn in the Peninsula area North of Minoc. It had harpies, orcs, trolls, ettins etc. Occasionally a water elemental would come in off the shore. It was a really good newbie farming area and all I see there here is animals.

On another free shard it was a reaper forest and someone told me that's how it was on the OSI shard they played. So perhaps there were differences between shards, but I think either way it should be spawned with low level monsters to give newbies another option other than one of the graveyards.

There is supposed to be monster spawn up there, it looks like it's just a little light. I'll adjust. Thanks.

I remember going up there quite a bit, pre and post T2A, for trolls and stuff. It was kind of a pk hot-spot, too.

I believe they're talking about the area West of the mountains/T2A entrance.. There used to be all kinds of monsters spawning there from orcs, ratmen, ettins, ogres, harpies, trolls and that kind of thing. Later in OSI it was spawned with all repears, which was popular for training resist.

But T2A era, there were a lot of random monsters in that area, good hunting spot and pk hotspot

Oic, Yes that area is not currently differentiated from the rest of the mines. Thanks.

Bingo. On Catskills us noobs used to call it the Minoc spawn and went there to noob it up trying to farm low level monsters every day. And then some pk who just made a junk pk character to kill noobs with would show up and wipe the floor with us and it would be the biggest thrill of our UO lives.
