Killing a Dexer in the field

Post by Mikel123 »

What's the strategy for killing a dexer in the field? Assume they have a full ration of potions. Often I'll get them down to 10-25% and they'll run for long enough to chug another yellow or finish a bandage.

Is it mostly a matter of getting perfect timing on a poison?

Also, if they survive an initial mana dump, and you're at 50 mana, what is your plan? I just try to Paralyze and Meditate, but a good resister will not be paralyzed long enough to make that effective.

You have to kill them quick. If they let you deplete your mana you will be most likely forced to run until you can replenish your mana. The only option a mage with no mana has against a good dexxer is to let the dexxer chase them until they get at least half of their mana back. The poisoning at the last second is definitely a good technique. Most of the time you will kill them as they charge at you and they miss quite a few times, allowing yourself to get some easy combos + hally hit off. Then they will be running and this is when you go in for the kill. Launch a last EB and land your final hally hit maybe with a couple exp pots and they will be done for sure. If you have a mage fighting alongside of you then the best option of course is to sync them right away.

Mage versus mage and dexxer versus dexxer will usually last a long time if they are balanced in skill and gear against each other. But a mage versus a dexxer is always very unpredictable. One can easily kill the other fairly quickly.

When they are running with low hp just chase them down and keep throwing exp pots at them and try and land that final hally hit if you can. Also the poisoning can be vital so they don't get that last bandage heal off. It takes like 15 full seconds to heal with a bandage so you have more than enough time to finish the kill.
