Some of those sites have an "in" and "out" column - what are these for and how do they affect our place in the list?

Whenever you click on a vote link from UOSA, you're basically the "in" for the voting website. When you click the link button on their website to come to UOSA, you're the "out".

The more "ins," the more that particular website (UOSA for example) is providing references to whichever voting site it is, in return they'll usually raise that websites rank or status. More people clicking vote = more in references = rank goes up.
