Weird Question

Say you had taming on a thief and stole something from someone but personally didn't attack them. Let's say you had your pets guard you and when the opponent attacked you the pets defended you to the point of killing your mark.

Is the flag independent such as when you have your pets guard in town and a blue attacks it, only the pets get guardwhacked, or would you get a murder count? I heard if your mark dies in the time your criminal flag is still ticking you take a count regardless is this true?

Of course having taming at high levels especially isn't a norm thief template...just something I just thought about.

No, I was just playing with the idea of having a horde of polar bears nothing major, 50-60 taming. I dont have any slots available actually. I was just wondering how that would play out.

I know getting a guy stuck in the middle of a mob is a good thing for a thief, moreso if the mob is on your side.

In the described scenario, I don't think you'd take a count, but don't take my word on that without testing it

Assuming you had a pet guarding you (and were blue), and were caught stealing and got guardwhacked, Would your action alone cause them to flag? I would be under the assumption they only flag them when they actually 'attack'? and or would they go after the guards?
Maybe you know. I rarely played a thief or tamer during T2A -- definitely not both combined, but I think OP has a good question.
Theres a few factors I guess that would have to go into consideration

well I wouldn't use this technique in town of course...it might look something like this

steal
Taming 60
Animal lore 70
Magery
Resist 80
wrestling
Meditation

could leave a blockade at someone's house then gate in with the rest of your crew, swap them and pillage...or a public house where your pets follow you to corner them in. Of course you could do that in brit and not even have them guard you. If indeed you didnt take a count you would want your pets to guard you only outside of town. I was thinking small not like dragons and wyrms etc.
