Does someone have any data about how successful tracking is at different skill levels.
For example, what does tracking 20/30/40/50/60/70 etc achieve?
I can't seem to find any information about this.
I have a spare 100 in my template and would like to split it 60 hiding and 40 tracking but have no idea what this enables me to do with the skill.
Cheers
Ross

Re: Tracking
21.4 real tracking skill will allow you to track a person within your entire screen, and continue to track them if they run several screens away.
I believe your chance of tracking is a calculation based on your targets hiding + stealth compared to your tracking skill.

Re: Tracking
Cool thanks. How much tracking would I need to track someone a few screens away?
Re: Tracking
I could have swore there was a tracking calculator out there somewhere.
I'll try to find it and let you know.

Re: Tracking
I don't believe tracking has anything to do with people being hidden or not. At least as far as I can tell. That's the beauty of tracking!
I measured a GM tracker with UOAM, selecting the farthest animal or human I could and tracking the tiles away from me that it was (yes, remember the geometry formula you'll "never use", the Pythagorean formula?). I averaged 106 tiles - a low of 75 and a high of 132. Sorry I don't have any other figures, just at GM.
I'd suggest going 60 Tracking, 40 Hiding though. You'll have to use the hide skill 20% more often to do it successfully... but you'll track people you never would have found with only 40 tracking.

Re: Tracking
Can you confirm that it's 21.4 real? I was under the impression it was 20.1 real, which worked out to about 21.4 effective?hiicha wrote:21.4 real tracking skill will allow you to track a person within your entire screen, and continue to track them if they run several screens away.
