Boots + deer mask = 3 armor?

Is there a reason I have 3 armor while wearing boots and a deer mask?

1. Is this intentional
2. Does it really add real armor points for protection?
3. Do these items affect med, or anything else besides armor? Does clothing at all?

Need to clarify this, thanks!

Yeah clothing has AR, it is real AR.

Masks, and Jesters suits in particular provide decent ar with no meditation penalty. There's a Stratics chart somewhere detailing the AR for all the clothing.
