Is there any advantage to join say a blacksmith guild or mining guild? Thanks!!!

The only advantage I can think of is 50% off on vendors...at least that was the system message when I joined the fishermen's guild.

I was under the impression that it would let you display a master or GM title in that profession regardless of your fame. But I do recall there being some discount on good back in the day (preT2A?).
