Mac Patch?
Mac Patch?
Does anyone know if there is a patch for UO to work on MAC OSX? I recently found a patch to make Diablo 2 work, but that game is boring
. I just found out about this shard, and I'm itching to get back into UO. If anyone has any info on this, please let me know. Otherwise, I'll just buy Parallels so I can run XP.

Re: Mac Patch?
Hey man, I used a Mac when I played here. You actually need to install windows to get it running though.
And when you turn on the comp, hold down the alt button and it should let you switch from Mac to Windows.
I must warn you though, macs are terrible for pvp, and fast cons. I pinged at around 50 on the mac and it
was the new 08 iMac, and still chopped around the shard like crazy, even with such low ping.

Re: Mac Patch?
I play in VMware Fusion on my mac. works like a charm.
Hope that helps.

Re: Mac Patch?
I'm not responsible for this guide (actually, I don't even have a mac), but it seems pretty "right" to me, as a linux user...Yes...it simply works:
Using the wine porting for OSX (Darwine)
* download wine files:
o Darwine + TRiX from: http://www.kronenberg.org/darwine/
o winetricks (shell script) from: http://www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks
* download UO files:
o Mondain's Legacy (or other) client
o Razor
o UO AutoMap
* install Darwine and TRiX (drag in Apps default folder)
* export path's variables as follow (the wine binary is in the Wine.bundle file):
$ export PATH=$PATH:/Applications/Darwine/Wine.bundle/Contents/bin:/Applications/TRiX.app/Contents/Resources/bin
* execute from shell:
$ sh winetricks corefonts vcrun6
* once done execute:
$ sh winetricks dotnet20 fontfix
* browse to "/Applications/Darwine/Sample WineLib Application/winecfg.exe" and open it
* in the winecfg.exe window set as follows:
o Tab Libraries: select "quarz" (native, builtin) and press add
o Tab Graphics: deselect the first 4 checkboxes
* install Razor (just double click the .exe setup file, should be opend with WineHelper)
* install Ultima Online (double click)
* install UO AutoMap (UOAM)
* to execute UOAM do from shell:
$ wine ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/UO\ AutoMap/uoam.exe -q &
* install **whatever you want**
I hope that this guide will help every Mac user, and so every smart user....!!
I tested also Injection and it perfectly works like all the other programs...
So far the client version 6.0.12 is too up-to-date and the decryption performed through UORice version 3.5 still doesn't work.
have fun!
Usually, running a win32 app/game wine is needed...or i heard about parallels...
You have to try them out...

Re: Mac Patch?
I'm running UO and razor from a mac myself (10.6 Snow Leopard on intel MacBook Pro).
I just joined T2A and installed it a few days ago.
This is what you'll need:
1) Winebottler (includes Wine)
2) this neat little guide (post #4 in the thread):
http://www.uogamers.com/forum/general-d ... ost2020751
I had to add 'corefonts' in winetricks to get 'dotnet20' to install properly. I do believe that in my noobdom, I may have added some overkill. It may not be necessary after all.
I also had a few errors trying to install libraries via winetricks. Shutting down winebottler and wine then restarting to retry worked well for me.

Hey there,
I am keen to give Second Age a go but only have an Intel based mac running OSX.
I followed the instructions on this site:
http://www.uogamers.com/forum/general-d ... ost2020751
Well here is how I did it:
1.Download Winebottler from WineBottler - Run Windows Programs directly on OS X
2.Drag the apps into your app folder (Wine.app + WineBottler.app)
3.Launch Wine.app,click on the Wine icon in the top bar and go to File Manager from the drop down list. A folder will be created in your user directory (~/) called Wine Files.
4. Drag your UO setup, Razor setup files and anything else you will need into the Drive_C folder within the Wine Files folder that was created in your user directory.
5. Click on the wine icon again on your top bar and goto "Winetricks"
6. check the box "dotnet20" in the list then click Apply.
7. Finish the installation by clicking next just like in a normal windows install.
8. Go back to "Winetricks"
9 check the box "fontfix" in the list then click Apply.
10. Finish the installation by clicking next just like in a normal windows install.
11. Go back to file manager in the drop down menu from the wine icon in the top bar; Using the file manager look for your UO/ razor setup files (they should be in C:/) and double click to install them like you would in a windows environment. Everything should install and run smoothly.
But when I try to load razor the UO screen just freezes with that annoying grey hue.
Has anyone else had the same problems? Are there any other ways to do it? I tried using Cross Over but couldn't get Razor to work with it?
Help would be great!
Thanks in advanced!

Re: Mac Patch?
Just get yourself a copy of CrossOver for Intel MAC's only. I run UO every day on it.
