Pk'ed again

Post by Oppo »

Hi.
Im a few weeks old on second age and have created a fisherman nd a provoker.
my fisher is stuck on 93.2 and wont go further. I'm trying to get gold to buy a ship with my provoker but every hunt i get pk'ed jus as i have earned it. very frustrating.
I jus want to get my fisher gm'ed and ready to earn.
Does anyone think they could lend me 10k for ship to save me few hours??

Thanks

Op

Why don't you ask for assistance in hunting instead in game or look for areas in which there is little PK activity? I know it's hard starting out but it's something we all had to do.

an easy way for some quick if you wanna solo:

sheer sheep (yew/skara) --> collect cotton in (moonglow/skara) --> make cloth --> sell to npc.

it is save, boring and i'd estimate in a little more than 1 hour you'll have the gold for your ship.

If you got a bit of gold, buy a couple lvl 1 maps and go dig em up, you can do em with zero cart and runes found in any of the public libraries to lead ya right to the spot. You have about a 1/100 chance of actually dying while doing one, even lower chance of seeing another player, much less a red one. A 500g investment for a map, 5 minutes of your time nets on average gold of about 1350 (chest, chest spawn, and local) in coin and typically another 1200 in gems and trash loot. You will have your boat money all told in about 45 mins of doing maps.

I usually recommend the sheep shearing to new players too. However i know that gets old quick, so if you wanna go to Treasure map route.

I would farm early in the morning. I rarely encounter other players in hot spots early in the day.

The first week or two I got here I was marauded by PKs every time I earned any gold. Now I know to stay away from the more popular dungeons/hotspots during peak times, as well as return to the bank frequently. Often, I'd find myself thinking about taking my money and recalling out, only to end up staying around and continuing to hunt out of greed. Needless to say, a few times being PK'ed after choosing not to leave when I thought I should have taught me to return to town often. I also found it was easier to make money on a crafting character to start, then as my provoker slowly got stronger (and I got smarter), my income began to shift from my crafter to my hunter. Now my crafter is the money sink, not vice versa. If you're new (like I am), you just have to accept that PKing is part of this game (in fact, the risk of losing everything is what makes this the greatest game ever), and modify your hunting habits accordingly. In UO, you have to learn from your mistakes or else you will just repeat them over and over again.

Occlo is a great place just to monster bash and make some easy gold. I used to hunt there all the time when I first started here even went gray many times from killing the prisoners I rescued from the orc and ratman camps that spawn there and never got pk'd, everyone I ran into there was always cool.

I'm part Welsh, and have been there 4x. (live in Canada).

On one of my visits, I asked a friend of mine who lived there to drive me around to various farms in the mountains to find sheep. I wanted to catch one, to see if it were possible to do so. I was not able to. They run really goddamn fast.

flank small game.. most have a limited viewing area when at full speed, and slow to process new unexpected people/problems. Also use of tools help some of the most simple is a rope with a weight on each end used the throw at the feet of running game to slow them down once in range of an attack.
