ok, but they could lose like 2-5% when they die, or whatever the number is... 10% is too much because they are losing both stat and skill

I don't know, just trying to work things out until its fair for everyone, the truth is that I hate people that kill you and leave their char's waiting by the bank 'til the count is over, for me murderers should be red (thats why long term count would be better)

Honestly, I think part of the fun in playing a red is having that gamble on the table. You die, and you either lose stats or have to wait forever before playing that char again. I still engage in group battles and all that. If anything, it just forces you to up your survival game on the field.

The only reason you wont see any wars between blues and reds is because blues are too pussy to come more than a screen away from the guards. There is a damn good reason there is statloss and thats for one thing. It makes being a murder actually worth something, it means you actually have to be good enough to stay alive and not die because you are in fact, a murderer. This weeds out all of the noobs that go red off of gy noobs but suck and die constantly, and it means if you see a red you know he's worth a shit to be still alive and red. If you can't deal with statloss or if you dont think you'll be able to live very long as a red...dont go red. There are other options for pvp like anti-red guilds, Chaos and Order which is popular, or just stick with pvping in the nightly events. This will not change so don't bother.

You gain in beating a dead horse +1 you are now at 100! Not accurate or probably going to be changed but let me address why stat loss is vital. UO on other shards feels like a FPS because everyone just cluster fuck kills each other with no repercussions. There is no real sense of community as everyone is red, and uses other chars to buy regs and do their mule work. There were never any large red vs blue battles if the reds were in stat loss (in real UO 1999). Most hardcore pks ran around in a team, whether of fellow pks, or healers. Some hardcore ones went solo. The massive battles would always be Order vs Chaos, Guild vs Guild, and Perma Reds (ones not in stat loss) vs Blues. Just common sense to avoid a fair fight if you are in stat loss. It's one of the defining reasons why I retired the other shards. Literally every person I ran into a dungeon would be red instantly attacking one another; not because they were pks, but just because red meant ABSOLUTELY nothing. I could have swore I heard *HEAD SHOT* during one of our encounters. UO is an MMORPG and I think people tend to forget that for some reason. Like any good MMO it needs checks and balances, consequences, heroes, villains and excitement. I think the next thread dedicated to no stat loss should spring up a perma death server, with one life just so people get the point that no penalties = no excitment = no fun. It is accurate....but anyhow good post. It doesn't need change, if you cant be a red and cant handle the stat loss dont go red, leave it to the ones who can. Stop trying to change something that we all who have been here a while enjoy.

You mean like the nightly 2v2 and 3v3 events where if you die you're out and whichever team kills off the other advances to the next round? Cuz we have that already..

I once did a "Mortal Free For All" on another server. If you died during the event your character was delete from your account. Made a Hybrid fencer/mage and was one of the last 3 left. Then I got ganged up on and died.....

It was pretty fun though, you definitely fight differently when your characters life is on the line.
