Hirable Fighter NPCS
Only hireable ones in Jhelom Pits? I have searched most towns and if they have fighters they don't respond to "name hire". Anyone know if there are any and I'm missing them. Only see two at a time spawn at Jhelom Pits. Not sure if it should be more. Thanks

Re: Hirable Fighter NPCS
did they heal themselves? I remember them but can't remember that part. Used them against the rotting corpse in Cov...might have been Pre-T2A. Also, can Hired NPCS gain in skills/stats?
thx

They tend to frequent taverns

Most were Sailors or Thiefs at these spots. Were there also Mage Hirelings avaliable back in the day and Archers?
Re: Hirable Fighter NPCS
aye. We've got em all, they just are scattered about, there are no Big spawns of them
Re: Hirable Fighter NPCS
I confirm, not long ago i hired the fighter for 102gp or so in Jhelom.
Went to a graveyard, when it rush to epic battle with 3 shades, skeletons, zombies - and guess what? It died.
The second one I used with great care. Looks like fighters do not heal themselves.

I found a couple Mages but they didn't respond to Hire. I see them about as well but can't figure out how to get one

Rotting Corpses didn't exist until the Trinsic invasion around when UOR era began.BloodyBandage wrote:did they heal themselves? I remember them but can't remember that part. Used them against the rotting corpse in Cov...might have been Pre-T2A. Also, can Hired NPCS gain in skills/stats?thx

Balderdash man, the Trinsic invasion was long before UO:R.Silverfoot wrote:Rotting Corpses didn't exist until the Trinsic invasion around when UOR era began.

Re: Hirable Fighter NPCS
I don't remember when the Trinsic Invasion occurred exactly but I have been playing UO since release basically, Dread Lord Days. This one spawn was all that existed of it and I think it was in Covetous. I was so new that my friends gated me there to gain archery on it when I first started playing. I think they used it as an alternative to the bonewall room. They used a hired paladin to tank since the super zombie, (think it was a rotting corpse) would poison but not hit hard. They would let it tank and heal the npc paladin while we hit it for gains. This spawn might have been removed shortly after as I don't remember it being there later on. Either way it's not a big issue as it was most likely Dread Lord Days.Silverfoot wrote:Rotting Corpses didn't exist until the Trinsic invasion around when UOR era began.
Sidenote: Do NPCS gain in skills/stats? Is there anyway to "stable" a hired NPC. I tried to stable him haha but didn't work. Can you put them in an Inn? Or just overhire them so they stay longer? P.S. Remember how people would train up Dragons? Be pretty badass to train up an NPC hehe. I'm having way too much fun with this ;(
