I'm almost certain that you could drop items into a stack that was locked-down in a house in-era. For example, you could lock down 1000 blood moss on the floor of your house and drag 1000 more and drop it onto the locked-down stack.
As it works now, you cannot drag and drop onto a locked-down stack. You have to release and combine them, then lock it down again.
Its not a huge issue but its a bit inconvenient.
Dropping items on to locked-down stack
Re: Dropping items on to locked-down stack
Aye, this was brought up recently in bug reports as well. We'll get this fixed. Thanks.
Re: Dropping items on to locked-down stack
Actually, it might be something to put on hold, considering you couldn't lock down generic items in the first place (meaning non-unique items that can be stacked). This is the section of the patch notes that covers that addition:
Server update Nov 23 1998 10:59AM
HOUSING

- Generic items cannot be locked down.

Was it later rescinded? If not then I have no idea how I kept regs, bottles, ingots, or boards around with a 400 stone limit on secures.

That's what we're discussing at the moment. That particular peice of information dosen't fit with the memories of people who played at that time.

Re: Dropping items on to locked-down stack
The patch noted above was about a month before the house menu came out, with I believe was the same time they added the "i wish to lock this down" phrase. I've spent the bulk of this afternoon trying to prove this, but to no avail.
I'm sure that I had locked down stacks between the period of the house menu introduction, and the patch that introduced the new lockdown system. I just can't find any concrete evidence that my memories (and the memories of many others) are correct.
I agree that stacks could be added to, and usable items such as food could be consumed, by anyone if within reach. Again, can't find any info proving this for this time period.
