Question about Nightmares & their spawns

Post by Oswald »

Back in the t2a days it was said that there was a server limit on nightmares and the reason they were so rare is because people hoarded them in stables on various accounts and thus they never spawned unless someone's nightmare, somewhere, was killed.

Was there any truth to this? And if so, was it recreated here?

Sounds plausible, but then again, wasn't it just rarer for people to have enough skill to be able to tame Mares back in the day?

nah its bit more like this (from my own experiences)

12+ spawns, one spawns at a time (randomly) in each location and another won't spawn anywhere else til that one is tamed/killed.

I don't know if thats true.

I was a big tamer back in the OSI days, and a regular forum-goer on the tamer site, and nightmares weren't spawning anywhere for a long time.

I don't know if that changed with future expansions or not, but I remember I could spend every single day checking every spawn and there wouldn't be any.

Once in a blue moon you'd get a report of one spawning somewhere and then it would vanish. I remember I got PK'd several times and had my mare killed and it would respawn in one of the locations only after that.

So the word on the street was that the spawn was clogged up because of all the stabled mares out there.

(edit - the spawn may work fine on this server because of the limited population of tamers, I dunno)
