Server is impossible

this server is balls for new players, PKs just recall from dungeon to dungeon killing and stealing everything, how the hell am i suppose to get ahead, ive tried making money like 35792752 times and everytime i go somewhere, some asshole shows up kills me then rezzes me an says " its to make you go get more powerful" WTF!

i know pking is part of this game, but its clearly out of control on this server.

I had no problems. I made a bard, macroed all week, and made 200k the first weekend. Find spots, get creative, bank often, carry potions, learn to escape.

This server won't ever give you a freebie, you have to learn to get what you need yourself. There are 3-4 spots I use to farm that have just as much income potential as the most common camped spots and are much safer, you just gotta go out and find them.

Im clearly not looking for a freebie, all im saying is if people are serious about the population of this shard then they should be leaving new players alone\, not taking the only 2k they have and then talking poo, that makes me want to leave this shard for a different one.

I felt the same way... but after dying several times and getting mad... I started mining... got myself a house and some resources and then made a toon that I could go out and hunt with.

bank often.... theres a guide on here on going out prepared...


ive noticed a lot less pks lately than normal actually...

Ive been able to buy a 2 story house buy just:

farming sheep wool and cotton

and

chopping wood and making bows

Both activities are 95% within guard zone.

If you want suggestions just ask but going off on the server just because you are dying is not going to help you.

Sounds like what we all went through as new players on OSI. Its really a sign of a healthy server.

Like others have said use safer methods of gaining gold to avoid all the pks etc. A very effective solution to pks is to get up early in the morning 8am to 4pm is very PK-Free.

Hope the PK`s dont discourage you too much, this really is an amazingly well run shard.

lol, are you serious? I disagree.

From my noob days till now, I have never been pk'd while monster farming (I am still technically a noob). What is your plan of action? Do you go hunting expecting to get lucky and encounter no pks? I go expecting to encounter pks. If I don't encounter pks, I get creeped out. You must have an escape plan. I'm a fairly clumsy player and I pvp like I have arthritis, but I've never failed to run from pks. What can they do when you run? They have spell casting delay, can't hit you while chasing you. That pk is right, you need to adapt.

And I don't get what you mean by not able to get ahead. There are ways to train your char other than fighting monsters in dungeons you know. Easiest way to GM combat skills is hire fighters for 100 gold (per UO day) and spar while healing them. There are also other ways of making money (crafting!). What dungeons do you hunt in? There are plenty of lesser dungeons and high spawn wilderness where pks don't bother going to. They are perfect for noobs.

Anyway here are some survival tips:
- make lots of trapped pouches, and then a macro for them. release you if you get paralyzed
- carry heal, cure, refresh pots. make macros for them too
- invest in gm hiding
- gm wrestling + recall is amazing if you're a mage
- always bank your loot periodically so you don't lose it all

Blah if you have more than 3 trapped pouches there is no way you can get pkd unless they get lucky and find you when your hp is down to allmost 0. And most pks i met on this shard kinda give up as soon as you start runing. Just rase your magery to 50 or 60 and cast reflect magic and trap pouches with it.

And chances of being pkd is half he fun of farming. It feels so much more like you earned the money than. Trust me tramel is not fun cause than everyone with less than 100 million gold is poor.

I just began on this server about a month ago and it was my first time playing UO in quite some time. It's really not that hard to make money and build skills.

Farm the right places, keep your head on a swivel, and be able and willing to recall quickly. If you can't, or are unwilling to do this, I suggest you go back to Trammel.

also, such pking (with rampant ghosting) is not era-accurate, like at all....

ofc, i remember pking, and there were quite a number of them, but you could farm with some feeling of safety because basically nobody used to ghost spawns back in the day...

There was no ghosting involved. BAM was just the victim of a random killing spree inspired by the crafting of some hallys.

Steps to being rich.
1. Make a fisherman.
2. Raise skill in town till 70.
3. Sell all shoes and fish you fish up till 70.
4. Buy a small boat with the income you've earned.
5. Set out into deep sea and gm fishing. (days about 2 days)
6. Fish up MIB's and go get the loot.

I got a L shape full of loot within a couple days.

Also, work hiding while fishing and gm it.
