Whats the best mace, speed and damage wise?

You mean macing weapons (not just the maces) right?

I prefer quarterstaff, then war axe (don't let the name fool you--it's a mace weapon!).

As you can see, different weapons have their benefits (such as war hammer has high damage, but slow). If you're looking for high damage over time, I suggest quarterstaff.
