UO Chess *Event Proposal*

I'd like to setup a UO Chess Event...

UO Chess

Takes place on top of a tower, I can host or whatever...

Should be enough space, 64 tiles.

Pieces are played by individual people....

These people are required to where pre-designed clothing that identifies them as a certain piece...

IE: King - Derrick
Queen - Maahes
Rook - XY
Pawn - ...

You get the point.

We have two people playing...perhaps two of the shard's best chess players?

They call the moves, and the person who is the said piece then moves...

We can definitely mount the knights on Mares or something...

Perhaps we can have someone there who knows the rules well too, as to prevent cheating or wrong moves.

What do you think?

I really do like this idea but I dont know if we have 32 people on this server that would sit still long enough for a chess game. Not to mention the whole going to move someone and they're afk scenario. If we could get a script set up with npcs somehow that'd be amazing tho. I'd be willing to help write that one.

you could set it up like battle chess where when you attack a space the 2 actually fight and whoever wins takes the space... or is this what you were suggesting? pawns could be dressed in lighter armor with weaker weapons and knights can be on horse with heavier armor and weapons while bishops can cast spells and rooks are the most heavily armored with spell casting... or something along those lines.. that would be pretty interesting and i would like to participate..

I think either way it goes, legit chess or the nifty battle chess angle, it would be an interesting event for sure. I would definitely do my best to attend such an event in some capacity.

Hmm Rybka would prolly ruin a conventional game of chess...unless both used it but then it would take the interesting human element out of it. However, a pvp oriented game of chess would circumvent traditional chess skill as everyone avoided the ChoppaX Pawn.

At any rate id love to see this happen.

The Nujelm chess board would be great for a traditional chess game. Might want to see if Derrick could lock down chests around it or something to stop people from luring tamed animals into the field.
