How do you get server birth rares anyway?

Christmas of 2008 Kaivan released a crap load of them at one time, and made a post on the forums about it (not in game). It was his Christmas gift to us... Unfortunately "us" meant 5-9 people... basically the first few who saw the post in the shard news section ran around and picked them all up within hours. You can still see the post in the "shard news" section....

Were the rares difficult to find? I'm guessing you guys just ran around towns/dungeons looking for them? Or was there a list somewhere?

no list, just ran around looking. I don't think the GM's ever, including to date released a list or said if they;ve all been found or not. I can tell you though, the ones from that christmas have been found. A few more were released this x mas but theyve been found i think as well

just out of curiousity, I never played osi (well 2 weeks while on vacation at a friends) and thus really have no thorough knowledge of the game from that stand point.

Am I pretty much screwed as for finding this?

I really dont even know where to look? ie: would I find one out in the middle of the forest in yew? or are they inside chests inside dungeons or something?


Edit: I guess I'm referring to past tense as most if not all have already been found.

no hints, theyve been found everywhere.. alot were accurate, alot not

A couple of big ones have been found in the last couple of months by two different people, and they weren't in weird or impossible to find places...I feel strongly there are more still out there, waiting to be found
