I have been killed a few times, but it was when I was new to the server, and I was still getting used to UO again, I was unprepared, underequipped and had pretty much zero survivability, this was less than a month ago, I hadn't played UO for roughly 10 years before that.

I purposely only hunt in areas where I can see PK's coming from a ways away, like down a hallway, around 2 corners, etc. Place boxes in bottleneck areas like 2-3 deep works wonders also. By the time you get to where I was I am long gone with all my loot in tact and my gear still with me. There is no real "counter" to this strategy unless you are on foot and stealth all the way in, in which case, you have given up 2 pretty important skills in order to be able to do that, and mounted I shouldn't have a problem getting away. You could mark a recall rune right where you see me hunting, then recall into there next time, but who's to say you won't recall into a tamer with 4 dragons, most PK's won't recall blind into a farming area.

Like I said, be prepared, be smart about where and how you hunt and you can avoid being killed by PK's 95% of the time.

Or you can fish up MiB's and Thunt for gold and have even less of a chance of running into a red player.

my first farmer char was a t-hunter. id buy lvl 1s in bult like 100 for 25k. thats atleast a 75k gain just from the gold. not counting selling everything in chest. and every once in a while you get a decent power/vanq wep.

There is a counter - sending a ghost into the area to check for anything too dangerous, then gating into the middle of the room at the right time and insta disturbing your recalls with dexers/hallys/harms/exp pots. It's also a pretty common thing to do on this server.

Yes - for example, Hythloth level 3. So many twists and turns and U-shaped hallways, it's nearly impossible to get a surprise attack on someone.

I also use the boxes all the time. It takes all of 30 extra seconds to run to a provisioner, drop 140 gold for 20 boxes, and drop them off near where you hunt.

The box thing is really clever - I bet that buys you a lot of time.

All people have to do is use dungeon hallways/doors to their advantage, even place a few chests so you have to move them to get through.

A prepared farmer should never get caught by a red PK. They are PK's because that's all they can kill is unprepared newbie people trying to make gold.

I was hidden in destard, saw 3 reds come in, start chasing one guy, and as soon as one other blue character came along and they started to fight back, all 3 reds booked it out of the dungeon lol.
Apparently you missed the part about the element of surprise. The second i come on screen you're getting hit with an ebolt followed by hally and my pot is already counting down with follow up disrupts. MOST people don't escape (not saying people dont get away), but most of the time hardly anyone does..

Well if there's chests blocking your path I think your Hally hit is going to miss. Unless you try to throw it at him, heh.

Good luck with that.

Where I hunt you will be running down a hall and around a corner before you get your line of sight on me.

And by then I'm recalled out.

Not hard to avoid PK's if you are smart about it is all I'm saying.

I just sit there with Recall precasted.

Every so often a gate pops and 2-3 reds charge in full speed dropping their precasted ebolts and moving in for the hally whack.

I take the time to type out "nope", "not gonna happen", or "sorry faggots" right before I vanish to town.

One of these days I'm going to get royall screwed by having my recall spot blocked but it provides me with a bit of amusement because I know they are sitting there saying "fucking recall bullshit" as if it's my duty to drop down dead because they know how to make gates and hit the hot spots.

Would be funny if you said Kal Ort Por and then hid and then just waited to see what they said and when they left just resume your hunting. Granted if they dont bump into you. I have a rogue that I take to dungeons every once in a while. Hes helpful and adds another dimension of gameplay to me.

Can't hide in combat like that - I think it's pretty much impossible.

Not sure what the rules are but if anything is on you, unless you teleport, you can't hide within a certain distance.

Oswald, that's so cool that you call them "faggots". That is just AWESOME word choice. Give yourself a pat on the back for that little jewel. So CREATIVE and awesome. And clever. You must be proud.
