Are you trying just to raise only meditation, or raising meditation with magery?

You should always meditate at the % equal to your total int - med skill.

IE if you have 100 int, and you're at 30 meditation, you should meditate when your mana reaches 70 mana. As your skill increases, you lower the amount you should be meditating at (40 med skill, you'd be meditating at 60% mana.)

Here's how I did it:

Drunken Meditation until the 80s, then raised med into the mid 90's while GMing magery. More drunken meditation should finish it off after that.

This is only really a general rule (I think 100-med = 50% chance successfully meditate). I find skills actually gain quicker on this shard when you have a higher chance to succeed - but not too high. 120-meditation skill seems to be the sweet spot for quicker gains.

(120-meditation skill) = the % mana you should meditate at. or (100-meditation skill) for arguments sake. So if you have 50 mana it wouldnt be 100-(35 skill) = meditate at 65 mana... that makes no sense.. you should meditate at 0.65*(50 mana) = 33 mana

Passive med gains don't work here, so the wizard hat trick is pretty worthless. Look in the guides section, meditation is there.

I started a char with 50 mage/med and was at about 93 by the time I GMed magery... with no drunken meditation macro. You just have to set up the macro so mana will always drop to roughly that mana level after a successful cast. The thing is that you fizzle so much in the early stages of training magery, that med isn't that important and you may as well raise it while you do magery.

I just finished a mage, started with 50 magery/30 med, I ended up at 98 meditation when I GMed magery. I constantly adjusted my macro so that I was always meditating at the right mark I should be. I used to GM med around 90 magery, this change hasn't been too bad for me.

Hm, I didn't edit my macro too much as I was doing it in 8 hour periods while I slept. I did find my gains to accelerate when I was using 120-med though. I was frustrated at first as I was using 100-skill and it wasn't working too great.

I'll pay more attention next time.
