Getting started in PvP?
Getting started in PvP?
I decided to make a pvp char and he is just about done. I went with the 'cookie cutter' mage+swords. I PvPed and had a red during the samurai empire on osi, but that was a little while ago and this era is a little different.
Basically I need some advice on how to get some experience and learn about pvp of this era.
Any advice is useful. Hotkeys? Potions? tactics?

My character is almost done too. Can't offer any advice yet, but am looking for some people to practice duel with to get back into the rhythm. If you're up for that, PM or hit me up on IRC.

Hi Gund and Welcome to the community. If you want to become a better walker, walk, runner, run, PvPer, PvP
. Practice makes perfect. You should go to some 1 vs 1 events and look at the really good PvPers. SweetTooth uses lightnings well, Mr T. utilizes the Katana and Silex plays a hybrid type char I believe.
You are guaranteed disrupts using Weaken, Clumsy and Feeblemind. After that, fireball and lightning work well. Fireball doesn't interrupt until the fireball animation reaches its target. Explosion and Ebolt are great for damage. Poison also is good for combos. Harm and Magic arrow are less reliable to interrupt ones target but they still do damage.
Many players do a combo like this. Precast Exp, hally hit, drop exp, quick cast clumsy or feeblemind to interrupt gheal. Then cast lightning, poison, weapon hit. If they go for mini heal you have the chance to ebolt. I'm not as good as some of these players are yet but they utilize little spells really well. Just practice and see what you like.

Ya like BloodyBandage said just go to 1v1 tourneys and find people to duel against in jhelom duel pits. I wouldn't watch me I'm not too great. I'm still trying to learn by myself. Some people that know what they are doing are... Aristides, Deacon, Wylan and Sweet Tooth.

Re: Getting started in PvP?
Play a Hybrid! More fun, and can be utilized for both PvP and PvM. I tend to go with any 2 wep skills and magery/eval. It's good to be different, keep that in mind.
NO! nooooOO! ....Hot, hot!

Re: Getting started in PvP?
So weaken, clumsy and feeblemind always interrupt, even if the target's already under those effects? Is that era accurate? I remember having to do that in UO:R to be able to win a duel, but no one ever did used them before that.
Re: Getting started in PvP?
Weaken, Clumsy, and Feeblemind only disrupt on the first cast, not on subsequent casts. They also never constantly disrupted during UOR either despite the fact that the fizzle animation was replaced with the spell animation (it was due to the fact that no net effect took place on the target, and as such no change to the state of their spell was taken into account).
