Just gotta know. Why do people feel they have to announce IDOCs? Is it because somebody killed your camper while you were afk or what? Why not just keep it to yourself?

It cant be generosity, because any new player that it could actually help probably won't be able to make it 5 seconds against veterans that are established and have friends to back them up.

So why?

I think mainly people do it once they realize they cant have it for themselves and once that settles in they feel the need if they cant have it nobody should. And if you get enough people involved in an IDOC most likely a ton of people will place especially at a keep then it becomes a wasteland of empty small houses for months :/

The funny thing is, it looks like the OP opened a forum account just to make this announcement.

he was there at this idoc keep, probably noticed a lot of other players there as well and felt the need to announce it. I personally feel doing this is absolutely insane and hinders all aspects of an idoc and would love to hear from one of this posters (I've seen a few recently) who post on the forums or in irc of locations of idocs.

Now I may have some one reply or pm me saying "WTF you talking about such and such idoc" Which to those people I respond, Thank you its very much appreciated. However I have never asked "Hey wheres the idocs at?" I have however seen ppl post in irc or on the forums and asked some clarifying questions. Either way I dont feel its right to announce idocs, for any reason.

While most IDOCs should remain as discreet as possible, there are some instances when creating a high level of pandemonium can be advantageous. If there are several groups fighting, it can give the solo player a brief window to place a house or grab a high value chest / item.

How does it hinder the aspects of an idoc?

guess it only hinders the the people who found it :p

and I agree with the above poster in regards to sometimes it helps by creating chaos, I personally (just an opinion) dont think its worth the risk.

for example: if 2 players are at an idoc keep your chances of having the ability to either place all/buy/block/somehow acquire all property needed to get the keep are dramatically higher then, say if there were 3 players and one said F this I'm inviting everybody to create chaos so I get that one statue/etc, most likely you'll end up with 10+ or more people, say 7 of them place sometimes place more then one.

Now you have 8 or so houses all for sale for absurd amounts (I just saw a small blocking a keep being sold for 300k) the only issue here, is everyone who felt like that could make it big, quickly wants that price, so you have one person who legitimately wants a keep but has to buy out 4-6 other people who each want a crazy amount for their small...after all said and done, just makes more sense to move one, and put the houses that you have "FOR SALE 1M", then you get into this stupid stalemate, that we have a MAJOR issue of on this server, of people blocking spots just to block or because they arent getting what they want out of it.

For example, off hand at this very moment in time I know of 2 castle spots (covered by a bunch of 7x7's), 3 keep spots (again covered in 7x7's) and a few wingable towers (again covered by 7x7's)

All of these scenarios its become either pay me this absurd amount or I'll never sell. Thus just reducing the amount of castle/keep/tower spots which then increases the value of the other properties, so eventually months/years down the line that small blocking the castle/keep spot MAY be worth 300-500k but in the meantime it destroys the chance for newer players to achieve a larger house, because the more established players are "holding spots"

Again all this is just an opinion and honestly I dont expect any change of players habits what so ever, just some things I've witnessed

And in some cases, there may be two prime IDOC ready to go at the same time. If one is discovered and the other is not, it is a good way to keep the second a secret.

There were at least two other good, uncontested IDOCs tonight aside from the keep.

People usually announce IDOCs because a group of people (usually guilded) are killing anyone at the idoc so that they will have it for themselves. The point of telling random individuals would be to get a few more numbers on your side.

If there are a lot of people at the idoc when it falls then people will forget about killing and just go for loot.

Back when I was more active and looked for idocs if i came across conflict Id always call in mYm to clear it out =) They usually let me get involved in the fights and get my piece of loot also. Pick your friends wisely.

This was when James and Fwerp were more active as well.

Some people just like to watch the world burn.

lol.

But rly, because its gay when some guild curbstomps everyone else and takes all the loot, more interesting when there are several guilds/individuals present fighting for the remnants.

If I saw a bunch of people at an IDOC, especially in a guild, I'd post it just to say "f you" to the people there that I couldn't compete with.
