Hi, what skill in smithy do you need to repair MAGIC items?
I am trying to repair a magic hally with 65 smithy and get message:
"You fail to repair the item" over and over
However, I was able to repair gm weapons before, thanks!

Depends on how badly damaged the item is, doesn't matter if it's magic or not.
It seems if you fail to repair the item, you will always fail to repair the item. I may be wrong on that

that's not accurate. you can fail to repair an item then successfully repair it. for example, before I gm'd smithy, I'd fail once in a while around 93 smithy, but always succeed on the next try. it does seem to depend on how badly damaged the item is initially.nightshark wrote:Depends on how badly damaged the item is, doesn't matter if it's magic or not.

so the best thing is to repair items often that you want to keep?

Everytime you fail I believe you are reducing the durability points on the item. IF the weapons are valuable please find a GM Smith to do the repairs for you.
If you don't know one, PM me. Obviously I cant meet to repair your item everyday, but if you have a bag of stuff and I am on its not a big deal to fix it for you.

true story. never repair your good magics with anything less than a GM smith, otherwise they will loose some of their max durability when you fail. i made a GM smith here just for that reason alone.

They lose durability when you SUCCEED at repairing too.
When you Arms Lore, every level below "unused" reduces the weapon's damage by about 5%. There's 10 levels, I think, and the weapon goes from unused (125%) to falling apart (75% damage).
I typically repaired at the third-best Arms Lore, but it's all about tradeoff between damage and how quickly you reach the point at which it has so few HPs that you need to repair it more and more often because it breaks down so quickly.
