It's not like everyone is using magic weapons, the people carrying them are usually the same people who carry 15 of each potion, pouches and are ready to fight lol.
Mages can do okay without magic weapons since they use spells for their damage. A GM weapon using dexer can win a fight, but your chances aren't that great since your only choice is point-click-follow and explo pots. Without a magic weapon you can't expect to kill a good mage on this shard. That was exactly the case in 1998-1999. Warriors got toasted back then, only good warriors won fights against good mages(and a good warrior always meant well-equipped including a decent magic weapon, pouches, all potions)
Keep in mind Divinity had inaccurate weapon damages. Those numbers never existed in an OSI era till this date, neither did the way the weapons hit and refreshed on Divinity. So people who come to UOSA from Divinity and Hybrid are definitely in for a surprise when they are playing a much more accurate 1999 T2A emulation.
There's still a huge market for GM weapons, it's not like they are useless. There are definitely more people carrying around GM weapons on UOSA than magic. GM smiths still make good money, that's why UOSA is an amazing shard.
