Not much to discuss, he was obviously dominating you. Archery tanks were non existent in T2A for good reason. You can not cycle a bow like you can a hally. If you were not running all over the place he would have dropped you almost immediately.

I know im not great.

I havent played UO in 4-5 years (and that was IPY/Redemption days of RunUO PvP - and that was my first fight, ill get the hang of it), but Archery doesnt serve me justice either.

This video wasn't supposed to be me 'showing my dueling skills' (or lack thereof)

Was looking for some usefull information..

(I should have left my original post, that said "no need for the 'lolusuxnoob' type of posts from the forum children)

But thanks

Indeed! Maybe I should just stand there and let him hit me and utilize some real PvP skill right? Is that what you do?

The way those Hally Hits were cycling was insane..

After I realized my Bow just seemed not to cycle and shoot, I started utilizing the run and shoot hardcore..

But if you think about what archery is irl, its distant shooting, thats the whole point, the whole advantage, staying away from your opponent and using your Archery, so your point is moot.

My question is what's going to happen when people can't cycle those Hally Hits like that after the patch.. we'll see

Can someone clarify something about "cycling" a halberd? After you hit and un-equip a halberd, cast a few spells, you still have to keep in mind the halberd's swing time in relation to your dexterity before you re-equip it right? For example you can't (or can you?) 1) swing halberd, 2) unequip (for 1 sec) 3) re-equip & insta swing. Not possible right?

Not going to happen for 1 second.

Basically unequipping the halberd and standing still without wrestling will allow you (with 25 stamina/dex) to re-arm it 3 seconds later and hit. If you arm/disarm again during this 3 second time span the counter starts all over. If you have more dex/stamina (some leet pvpers have 35 dex) you can re-arm if a bit faster than the 3 seconds and hit. It is dependant on your stamina, but it's usually always around 3 seconds. I dont know how this ever got added into the game, because that's just not how it ever worked.

I know that some people use a macro that would work something like this.

If stam >= 24
Wait X seconds
Rearm
Attack last
else if stam >= 15
Wait X+1 seconds
Rearm
Attack last
else if stam >= 9
Wait X+2 seconds
Rearm
Attack last.

and so on..
(after they hit, they would use this macro with a disarm at the top, or cast a spell and use the macro, or just manually disarm and use the macro)

Which would basically auto-time your wait until you can re-hit, factoring in stamina, allowing you to hit faster, ergo, more frequent.

It seems easier to me to just use a ton of red potions (why do you think everyone loves red potions) so you always have the same stamina, and therefor, the same wait time.

With 25 dex you can swing about every 1.8 seconds. Counting with real-time seconds on a clock.

With 35 dex you hit even faster, just do the math.

While "cycling" right now you need to be standing still and have your hally unequipped during the whole duration of the 1.8 seconds(assuming you have 25 dex). After the next patch with pvp changes you will be able to cycle while moving, it's gonna work better and more accurate than the current system.

It takes practice, then you will get it down.

Of course after the new patch we're all going to have the learn the new feel of the hally mechanics.
