Population of this server compared to other free servers

Post by Dangerzown »

Hello,

I've been getting my UO fix via UOGamers for the past few years, but I've grown tired of the poor economy and immature/racist players I've encountered there. I think the reason for the poor economy and horrible player base is because it's too easy to develop characters on that server. I decided to try UOSE, with hopes that the difficulty in building a character would create a better UO experience for me.

UO is no fun without a big player base; how is the population here? When I logged in yesterday and today, the game said there were around 400 players online. Typically, UOGamers has around 700 players online. I know both this server and UOG allow multiclienting, so I know the numbers are inaccurate. But I see very few people on this server - only a handful around Brit and Moonglow. Where is everyone?

Also, how is the pvp on this server? My main problem with UOG pvp was that you needed to load up on potions to be competitive, is it like that here?

Welcome to Second Age!

I think you'll find more activity in the regular world on Second Age than on most other non-EA shards. You can see the details on who is logged in from within our IRC channel but typeing status:
<@SecondAge> Server: RunUO 2.0 Creatures: 113737 Items: 4858284 Guilds: 929 Clients Online: 382 IP's: 224 (396 today)

We have tended to hit around 600 clients on peak in recent weeks, but more or less on average during the last year.

The ratio of clients to IP's tends to be around 3:2

Log in and find out...that's the best way.

The population is strong.

The economy is strong.

You WILL likely encounter racist remarks, etc. Grow a thick skin...it's the only solid defense for this.

Good luck in your travels.

The population is a decent size around 400 unique IPs on in the evening normally. Yew normally has people, as do a few other hot spots.

Awhile back there were some problems with racist comments, I haven't seen any of those for awhile though. There are a few vendors where you can get everything you can dream of.

There are a lot of thieves, house looters and reds though so watch out. If you need any help getting started shoot me a PM.

When I see racism, I do what I can to ruin that persons day or possibly even their entire UO experience if it's bad enough.

This is a good shard... find a guild to join and you won't have to play alone.

It depends what time you log on.

I see plenty of people at the bank.

Here's various screenshots of Brittain Bank at different times of the day.

I find people in places I never would on other shards, only on OSI did I ever see people at vesper, glow and yew graveyard. And I see people at those places on UOSA. I've even spotted newbie or two hunting together in the woods in the middle of nowhere.

you're all idiots theres no racism problem and never has been you just read on the forums and act like lemmings.

The playerbase/action is what I'd define as spread out, there's a lot of pvp in a lot of different places at once you'll find a lot of 2v2/4v4 in a lot of areas but hardly any 8v8s etc going on.

I knew I shouldn't have worded my post like that...

I was simply saying that it's bound to happen, so don't cry about it when it does...

You know, lemmings arent actually that stupid. The idea that they have no sense of self-preservation came from an old Disney documentary, where the crew actually was accused of using various means to "herd" them off of a cliff.
