Do resist parties still work?
They used to... has anything changed in my absense?

Re: Do resist parties still work?
I do believe there was a patch that made resistance gains tied to damage taken somehow, therefore making resist parties useless since you take minimal damage.
Re: Do resist parties still work?
I tried looking for details of a patch like that but came up with little.
Any ideas? ^_^

Im pretty sure it's now more damage based.
So Eval and heavy damage are the only effective way to get gains at high levels

My thief is at 97.9 resist, I'll do 1000 regs worth of MS casting with 3x 0 eval characters, see if it gains anything. Not really a great way to test it, but should be able to figure out if it still works at all.

More than adding casters (which is only making a faster number of casts), I'd add targets, as damage is devided between the targets and thus reduces the posibility of raising resist. Plus, if only one target is gaining, might as well cast FS on him and do it with cheaper regs.nightshark wrote:My thief is at 97.9 resist, I'll do 1000 regs worth of MS casting with 3x 0 eval characters, see if it gains anything. We held a resist session the day after the patch went in, and with 10 targets (and many casters, we went through 12-13k regs) gains seemed to stop at 86. I'd be interested in seeing if you can gain at least .1 with 1000 regs and multiple targets. How much you could gain with 2 targets, 3, and so forth to find the ideal number of targets that could still allow you to GM in a session.

Re: Do resist parties still work?
I was planning on having the 3 casters all work as targets as well. Only one of them will be gaining resist, but it's entirely experimental. I guess if 10 casters can only work up to 86, it's kind of pointless to even test it. MS only becomes cheaper than FS with 3 targets anyhow. I guess what I'll do is use a char with 100 eval, 3 targets and see how that goes. Maybe even throw in a stuck NPC to add targets.Pirul wrote:More than adding casters (which is only making a faster number of casts), I'd add targets, as damage is devided between the targets and thus reduces the posibility of raising resist. Is this some sort of digital orgy?
Re: Do resist parties still work?
I have experienced extremely fast gains training magery/resist at the same time and adding a 2nd gm mage/eval to cast on the gainer around 81. Took me very little time to get resist to 97. Getting to 100 though may take sometime.
