Very new player..needs help to start!

Post by Jellyo »

Hello everyone :)

I played UO very long time ago...but i've forgot almost everything...and I need alot of help to start it again! If anyone can help me answer few questions that would be awesome!

1. What skills/stats to chose at character creation? which 3 would be easier to start with? or the most common for beginner?

2. What skills are easiest to make money? I used to become a miner and sell ingots i believe..which was easier for me that time...if i recall correctly..is it a good way to earn money at start?

3. I wish to become a melee fighter with a little magery to help use gates/recall...can anyone suggest a good 700 skill build for my main character please? :)

4. I forgot how to raise stats to 100/100/100... can anyone give me suggestions or advise to gain those 3 STR/DEX/INT stats to 100 please?

my first character I want to make alot of money first then buy house then I will begin to play my main pve/pvp characters...I just need some help to start with :)

Thanks all for reading! thank you for taking time to help me!!

very excited to play on this shard! thanks all!

The wiki has tons of good information.

1. 50 Magery is usually a given for most characters. The second skill can be whatever you'd like.
2. Mining does well, usually 7-8g per ingot. Boards go for 2-3g each for lumberjacks. A bard is also a good choice (Provocation)
3. http://wiki.uosecondage.com/?title=Templates
4. The Stat cap is 225 on this server (like it was on the official servers in 1999). See beginners guide above for training stats.

There are some helpful guilds and people who will loan you a small house to help you train in. It's a big help.

Welcome to UOSA, this place rawcks.

1) Choose 2 skills at 50 a each (don't worry about the 3rd skill). The best ones to choose are the ones that cost money to raise ie - Healing, Magery, Archery, Poisoning, Crafting skill. Or some of the very hard ones to raise ie - Animal Taming, Provocation, Stealing.

2) Yup miners make a good amount, but its tedious work. I would recommend creating a Tmapper Bard to begin with, they can make alot of money real fast and they are very fun to play PvM.

3) PvP dexer template, one of mine looks like this - Fencing, Tactics, Poisoning, Anatomy, Healing, Resist, Magery. Thats a very expensive build but its one of the better ones in all around combat.

4) Stat's can only be raised to a max of 225 and have a skill cap of 100. First thing you want to do out of the gates is buy a Shepherds Crook and make a macro to herd an animal over and over (dclick crook, click animal, click ground, repeat) this will raise your str to 100 in about 1-2 hours. Next use snooping to raise dex to 100. Int is a bit harder as nothing really even comes close to raising it as fast as the str/dex ones, I usually just train magery/med/eval on my mage types to get it to 100.

Ok and finally ill give you my Tmapper template - Music, Provo, Magery, Meditation, Wrestle, Carto, Lock picking.

Hope this helps, Enjoy!.

Rose can you tell me why you have poisoning on your dexer? I was thinking of doing that but I was told it doesn't increase your chance to poison your opponent and that having it on a dexer is only a convenience. Is that true?

Its extremely useful. No it does not give you any added bonus's in damage or application, but it allows you to re apply your poison at any time you wish, even in the middle of a fight. This is very effective when using a high end weapon in the field, also you can poison your mate's weapons for group fighting.

If your going to have the poisoning skill on any character, it might as well be on a dexer.

This one's faster.

Provo
wait for target
Absolute target (Animal #1)
wait for target
Absolute target (Animal #2)
for 1 to 20
Dbl click instrument
Pause 0,5 sec.

Pause 5 secs on provo failure and 10 secs on success. (Could use for 1 to 10 loop on provo failure.)

Did not know the timer was halved if failed. (:

Doesn't matter that much towards the end of training. (Won't fail as much.)

But it saves time in the beginning and middle of training.

25 seconds? That doesn't make sense (:

Are you sure your macro is like so
Also, make sure that before you use the provocation skill, doubleclick your instrument. Otherwise your macro will screw up.
Useskill Provocation
wait for target
Absolute Target (This should be animal #1)
wait for target
Absolute target (And animal #2)
for 1 to 10 (right click the above command "Absolute target" and choose, special constructs, insert "for loop" and choose 10 as iterrations.
Dblclick (instrument) (Drums, tamburine, whatever)
wait 0,5 sec (doubleclick the command "Dblclick instrument" and choose special constructs, then insert waittimer. Type in 500 milliseconds.)
end for (right click the wait 0,5 sec and choose special constructs then end for

OR goto Moonglow Zoo and just target animal one then target your self... they are behind locked gates. :) That way no one can really mess with you. I have been there for a few nights, real nice!

good luck man!

Me and my home boy just came to this server starting over fresh on a slow skill gain server has been alot of fun!
