Colored Ores

Post by Bruno_Steelhart »

Are they worth anything here? I have been saving them while I mine to get tinkering and smithy up but since this was before they added extra AR for the higher colors I thought they might be worthless. Any thoughts?

They're worthless as far as increased damage/AR goes. They're not worthless for training with though, I would definitely keep them for training tinkering/blacksmithy.

Using colored ore does not make blacksmithing or tinkering go up faster, just mining.

When did I say it made it go faster? Ingots are ingots, and they all will give you crafting gains so keep them.

Colored ore is worth more than plain ingots. There is a player market for colored armor (all vanity), and the rarer the ore color, the more expensive it is.

I'm not exactly sure of the rates but a quick search on the forums I find:

If you just care about training I suggest selling the colored ingots and buying regular iron since you can get more ingots that way. But if you want to make some money you can make colored armor sets for people. =) I always pay good $$ for valorite sets because I can never find enough of that color myself.

Correct. My point was simply that as far as skill gain goes they're not worth anything more than good old iron ingots. Might as well sell them and use that money to buy more iron ingots.
