Best way to raise meditation? 6/25/2010
Tried to do the meditation macro using the liquor bottles but it appears that "inebriation is not conducive to meditation". so anyone have any ideas on the best way to raise this now?

Neither magic hat or booze should work now. Looks like your either burning regs, dieing alot, or using mage's bane clothes/jewelry now. Might be worth working low level inscription just to burn mana and break even.

I have and it's working fine. My character's med is now higher than his resist, so I figure meditation will be GM'd first.rouss wrote:youre using med while gaining magery arent youIzual wrote: Not sure what method people are going to use now
For characters that don't need resist, maybe do something in the magery macro to stop meditating to slow down mana regeneration. That way more med attempts will be made, assuming the macro has a mana check for when to cast and when to meditate. My macro tries to cast as often as possible for the resist gains.

Sure, but theres a certain way you must do it to get any gainsrouss wrote:youre using med while gaining magery arent youIzual wrote: Not sure what method people are going to use now
I found it's easier and far more efficient to just GM Meditation before working Magery/Resist to maximize gains
Just as an example say you have 10 Meditation, and you have 100 Intelligence, and you cast 5 EBs leaving you with 0 mana, then you meditate at < = 10 mana. You will not get any gains because you have to Meditate at certain *sweet spots* in your mana. You would need to meditate around 90+ mana to gain with very very low Meditation skill
Apparently the formula for working Meditation (from what i've read on the forums) is:
approx.. 120-(med skill)
So to get gains, if you are @ 50 Meditation you would need to meditate around 70 mana.
So the solution to gaining while casting at low levels of Meditation would have to be cast 1 eb, then meditate from 80-100 mana, rinse repeat, as Meditation goes up, this will require changing the point in your mana in which to use the Meditation skill
I was just curious as to what method people will discover, solely for Meditation as a standalone

That is what I do and it's always worked fine for me since the first med patch. Macro basically looks like this (I just adjust the value of X as my meditation increases.)Izual wrote:So to get gains, if you are @ 50 Meditation you would need to meditate around 70 mana.

If meditation >= X
Restock agent
Cast spell
Target self
Else
Meditate
lift/drop dagger in my pouch
Pause 10
End If
Takes a bit longer to GM magery, but by lifting the item and killing your meditation, you end up staying closer to your target meditation area and get more opportunities to raise the skill. I usually GM med before magery, but the last char I did ended up with 98 med, which is close enough for me to let it just GM on its own.

Get as much as you can gain from doing magery... if you have GM magery and simply need to concentrate on meditation use a platemail tunic. The mana regeneration slows down significantly giving you more opportunity to get better gains at the percentile range of your best gains based on your skill/mana amount. Back in the day people would use poison since it was the cheapest spell cast(one nightshade) to get your mana down.
Re: Best way to raise meditation? 6/25/2010
I don't ever recall meditation being such a bitch to raise.....ie: when you gm'd magery med was right there with it. Now it seems like it is much more difficult and a grind. Anyone else remember it being pretty easy?
Re: Best way to raise meditation? 6/25/2010
Meditation always GMs before my magery on here... The reason may be that I focus on meditation first but that is besides the point.
I always make sure whatever magery spell I am macroing follows the meditation gain percentage at all times until it GMs.

Passive gains weren't introduced until after our cutoff; because of this meditation is a pain to raise.Brules wrote:I don't ever recall meditation being such a bitch to raise.....ie: when you gm'd magery med was right there with it.
