That was my name when I started playing the game shortly after Christmas of 2008. I was a freshman in high school then. A friend of a friend told me about the game and how awesome it was, so I asked for it for Christmas.
That friend of a friend told me to created my character on the Great Lakes shard and gave me a little gold to start, but he was pretty new to the game as well so he didn't have much. We didn't play often together, and so I learned the ropes of Ultima Online the hard way.
One day I was running around in the woods north of Yew near the coast. I wandered into an area with a dense monster population, and before long, had several orcs, harpies and trolls chasing after me. As I ran away, I saw some player names appear on the edge of my screen and immediately ran toward them. They were members of the guild MPS (Mystic Paladins of Sosaria). It was a small guild of people who had been playing for awhile, and they were very close. They helped me kill off what was chasing me, and then laughed at me for it. After talking to them for awhile, they gave me their ICQ numbers and told me I could come hang out at the house, which was a little one room shack along the water. We called it Hell House since there always seemed to be monster spawns in the front yard.
They showed me some of the finer points of the game and before long, I had a fairly self-sufficient character and they asked me to join the guild. I stayed with them for almost three years. Part of me has this little hope that one of them plays on this server and will recognize the name.
Since I quit UO, I have played Everquest, competitive Counter-Strike and DotA and World of Warcraft. None of those games have come close to the UO I started playing back in 1998. I'm glad to have found it again.
I just wanted to introduce myself and express my interest in finding a group similar to MPS. I enjoy all aspects of the game, from crafting or just chilling at a guild house to PvP and killing all manner of creatures. I just joined the community a couple days ago, so my character is still raw, but it won't be long before I am back at it. If anyone is interested in a new recruit, message me on the forums.
