A New Look at Leather armor

Post by pm_lamont »

Given the new state of Tailoring(patched to era accurate values), it is now possible to craft the studded leather armor for profit. I have gone ahead with the cost benefit analysis in order to show the projected numbers which one might hope to get if one wanted to get a profit ratio of 6 from their studded armor! in essence, if you were to hunt for leather, you would make 6 gp per yard, and how much the cost would be were you to buy the leather from an npc vendor. This analysis will show you each piece, and what making 10 of them would look like in terms of materials consumption. In addition, this analysis will show you how much leather you get back from non-GM pieces after cutting (dubbed "fall off") and how many fall off items you will have at the end of crafting 10 of each item, and in total. So without further delay, here is the analysis:

"Item ID: ","Studded Tunic"
"Calculating Probable Statistics..."

"Theoretical cost in leather Net = ",183.3333
"Theoretical individual cost in leather Net = ",18.33333

"Item ID: ","Studded Gloves"

"Total attempts needed: ",25.64103
"Total leather required for complete run:",205.1282
"Theoretical Cost of Production gross= ",615.3846
"Leather returned from fall off: ",107.6923

"Theoretical cost of production Net = ",148.0851
"Theoretical cost in leather Net = ",49.3617
"Theoretical individual cost in leather Net = ",4.93617
"Individual Cost of Production Net = ",14.80851
"Individual Projected sales price: ",29.61702

These numbers will show a profit ratio of 6. To reduce or increase the profit ratio, simply divide the indiv sales price, or total value of suit by 6, and then multiply by what you want your profit ratio to be. ie (716/6)*x=PR where x is your preferred ratio number! For ease of management, I made another program to read and add all these numbers together, in order to give one a birds eye view:

For 10 suits of armor:
"Total attempts needed: ",184.529
"Gross leather for all pieces: ",2035.105
"Gross cost of suits in GP: ",6105.315
"Total Fall Off: ",840.9367
"Total Fall Off Items: ",84
"Total Net Cost of all suits: ",3582.505
"total net leather for all suits: ",1190
"net leather for suit: ",119.4168
"at cost price of suit: ",358.2505
"Projected sales price of suit: ",716.501 PR 6

and there we have it! I add an at cost iron norse helm to the suit for a helmet, which raises ar, and makes the suit look 30% cooler. You might even try coifs, since they cost 5 less iron and have 0% chance of failure at GM.

I concur. Its been proven by science.
<@SecondAge> Several Lichs have been spotted in the Britain Graveyard.
<@SecondAge> The cause is unknown and several townspeople were seen fleeing in fear
<Vintirex-droid> Several townspeople, Not a big enough problem imo
