Taming learning curve

Post by Commodore Axavious »

Can anyone try to estimate how long it took them to GM taming, in real time? 10 hours? 20?

Thanks.

That's a really old thread.

Some people claim they've done it in a week. I'm not sure I believe this, unless you're talking 16 hours a day of monitoring your macro, as well as having well-stocked alternate characters & houses to set things up.

It took me a couple months to hit GM taming. It was my second character; my first was a money-making warrior, who existed solely to earn gold to train my tamer in magery, get a house to help macroing, buy bandages, etc. But yeah, two months, of playing 1-2 hours a day and trying to set up macros while I was away from the computer. There are TONS of people who look for macroing tamers to kill, or not even kill but disrupt their macros and cause their death at the paws of the very animals they're macroing on.

Anyways, unless you've been here a while and you have tons of time on your hands, I'm going to bet it takes you about 2 months.

It says 35 hours of taming, which could be 3 days of taming for free time players. 12 Hours daily.

I love arguing with people who have never done it.

It took me somewhere between 4 and 5 hours, taming NON-STOP in the hell hound room, to go from 99.9 to 100.0. That was with zero interruptions to my macro, which is unheard of.

35 hours is ludicrous.

I started a character with 30 taming, manually got to whatever it was where I could start taming on ICE island in like a day (I think maybe 7-8 hours). Then I macroed on ICE island using my patio-house method (this was before there were 382505235932 houses on the server owned by 20 people). That took about 2 days macroing checking it when I could, until I could do hellhounds, which I did for one more day that got me to the level to tame drakes. I immediately switched over to the fire dungeon doing the same type of macro for one additional day and got to like 98/99 or whatever. From there to GM i just tamed imps/dragons and whatever during normal play.

The entire time from 30-98/99 was less than 5 days though for sure. There was a brief period in there where I had to spend a lunch-break taming Great-harts in moonglow to be able to do hellhounds or something.

I imagine GM'ing this in a week would be relatively easy depending on the amount of grief you take at hellhounds.
