Blacksmithing
Im a little confused about gains in blacksmithing, from what I have read its difficulty based. The guide in wiki says to make certain items at a given skill level to keep gaining.
o 50 - 65: Cutlass
o 65 - 75: Kryss
o 75 - 85: Short Spear
o 85 - 95: Plate Gorgets
o 95 - GM: Plate Gloves
But looking at the same guide I see the minimum skill level for a plate gorget is 50.4 and the minimum skill for a short spear is 68.4
Wouldnt this make a short spear more likely to give you a skill gain over a plate gorget at skill level 85?

Re: Blacksmithing
I found that using the guides was kinda test and error. I dont think I followed one guide but rather a few suggestions from different players, but I'm still only at high 80s smithing. I need to work on it some more.
Re: Blacksmithing
Nightmares!! God, how I hated GM'ing smithing...but I love having a GM smith now.
Alright, enough chit-chat, take a look at this thread, tons of useful information there. I personally went the armor way (gorgets and gloves), and always smelted everything. For that, I highly recomend you GM your mining first to get a better ingot yield per smelt, otherwise you'll be buying ingots forever!!

Do you remember how many ingots it took you from say 85-90 skill to GM?Pirul wrote:Nightmares!! God, how I hated GM'ing smithing...but I love having a GM smith now.

Re: Blacksmithing
I'd say around 15-20k. All I know is that I used over 25k ingots to get from 75-GM, always smelting.

Re: Blacksmithing
Hmmm thats not bad. About 140k. I should just buy them and get it over with. I dont like mining. I'd rather chop wood.
Re: Blacksmithing
That's what I did, I mined for my ingots until 75 smithing, then decided to just buy the rest. I know I used 25k because I got mine at 6per, and I remember spending 150k.

Re: Blacksmithing
6 per is a great price. I'll start a WTB thread.
Re: Blacksmithing
I recomend you try IRC, the trade channel. You're most likely to find people with the urgency to sell there. In the forums you will have a hard time finding sellers for that price.
