how long does an npc you hire stay with you?

When you hire an npc, how long will they stay with in RL time per 100 gold? I want info so I know how much to drop on the npc for a nights worth of macroing combat skills.

Ask it. It will tell you "I can be hired for ### gold for a day." It's usually about 103 to 105 per day. One day in UO time is about 2 hrs IRL. So, if it tells you 103 gold per day, and you drop 515 gold on it, it will stay for 5 UO days, or 10 hours IRL.

In that same situation, if you drop 530 gold on it, it will still stay for 5 UO days and keep the rest of the gold for itself, so be sure to drop the correct amount.

Be sure you say "name hire" before you drop gold on it, or else it will take the gold as a gift and thank you for it and all you get for the gold is a Karma boost.
