Two too Many

Post by Nexus »

So I sheared a sheep today and got 2 wool from it. It should only be one wool. Not sure if it's the same for the other trade skills.

I remember there were 2 different types of wool, one if you sheared and one if you killed and skinned the sheep.

The one you sheared would give more yarn than the one that was skinned. Maybe instead of making the two types, they just compensated? I'm not sure I don't think I've ever sheered a sheep and made cloth on UOSA.

This was an addition made after Renaissance. To get people back into Felucca, they doubled the drop rate on crafting resources while in Felucca. There are/were two different types of wool. One was colored slightly red after having killed the sheep. But you still only got one.

From what I recall, it was 2 wool from shear and 3 bloody wool from killing the sheep.

There's one way to prove if the resource amount from gathering is post Renaissance: Someone with a gathering skill mine or lumberjack; if you get more than 1 then it should be changed to 1.

Assuming this didn't change later:

You do know you don't have to kill sheep to harvest their wool? Just
use you're dagger (or any bladed weapon) on the wooly sheep and you'll
get one wool which Weavers will buy for about 22 gold (or use it on a
spinning wheel to get 3 balls of yarn). NPCs won't buy wool acquired
from a dead sheep. 'Dead sheep wool' comes in a stack of three, of
which, each wool spins into 1 ball of yarn. Weavers *will* buy the
yarn though (for 6 to 7 gold each). But it's best not to kill sheep
as they will regrow their wool.

We currently have live sheep giving 2 wool at 3 yarn each and dead sheep giving 3 bloody wool at 2 yarn each. Live sheep should give 1 less wool, and bloody wool should produce 1 less yarn.

Black sheep also produced a darker wool -- not the white that they do here (I think that their bloody wool was the same though).

I think the black wool stopped in 1999. Or maybe it stopped just producing the gray bandages... Now I can't remember.

The yarn from black sheep was the same as that produced from a white sheep -- so the cloth was the same as well. I also imagine that the "bloody" wool/yarn was the same color for both, But I can't find anything to substantiate that. I don't know if black sheep wool stopped spawning later or not.

Ok here's the deal as far as i know : there are two sorts of the wool,
both stackable (but not to eachother ofcourse). The first one is a bit
darker i believe, and seems to come from dead sheep. They only yield one
ball of yarn when spun. The second type is ordinary wool, which you get
from sheering sheep. I have a flock of 25 sheep at my house, also some
'dark' sheep, but the wool they yield is the same as the one 'white'
sheep yield. This wool gives 3 balls of yarn (doesn't matter if the wool
is stacked or not, always gives 3 balls of yarn).
