Player vendor question

Hi im new to this and i made a vendor. Now i found out how to claim the gold off him but i claimed way to much to carry i thought i was going to get a check but he dropped 45k on the ground. so in panic i put the money back on the vendor now i cant get it back. is there a way to retrieve that money back from him?
