Still need help with stealing....

Post by i8paintchipz »

So i made another account today got a pack horse and filled it up with aids (in 1 big stack) i targeted the aids each time when attempting to steal.... only thing is i only gains like 3.1 points in my stealing skill in about an hour and thirty minutes. went from 34.9 to 38.0. Im not possitive but i should be againing alittle faster especially as such a low skill level. Should i be doing it somewhere else maybe near the bank in brit? i was in a house by myself.... Im just not sure what im doing wrong.

Stealing goes up slow. I have been macroing it all day stealing bottles from another characters pack horse. I have only gotten like 8 points today. IMO that's not bad considering you can make a pretty solid macro and go do other things wither in life or with another character.

Uhhh... I went from 50 to 85 overnight (about 7 hours) and was GM by the time I got home from work (another 8 hours). Had to buy a second pack llama though since the first one lost allegiance.

You need a better macro.

You have to make the aids into piles that weigh 1/10th of your skill level and put them inside a bag. That way you're not stealing only 28 out of the 50 bandages in the stack, so you get better skill gains. I've been macroing stealing the last 2 days, has taken about 24 hours of macroing to get from 50 to 87.

I did it using a pouch with individual gold coins in a pouch. The macro would make the packy guard me (to make it grey), steal the pouch, and check for success. If successful, it'd drag the pouch back to the packy. If it failed, it would skip the drag.

Made it to upper 80's overnight.

Pack Horses require Zero taming. Might take a few attempts the first try but the following tames will be zero challenge.

On Another note.. Is there a good way to make pack horses like you longer besides feeding them?

Can someone please write a macro for stealing to clear up these issues? If you have a good macro share it, and be descriptive.

Also I remember being able to say "All good" and my animal would "nay" thus keeping him happy without feeding him. I haven't got a positive response when I've done this, so I guess the only way to keep an animal happy is to feed them.

I am pretty sure you have to be in thief guild regardless if the person you are stealing from is in guild or not. Just use a pack horse/llama.

Also, The Bag trick worked well for me, thanks for the tip. I should have 100 stealing in the next couple hours :P

Currently my macro is raising Stealing, Hiding, and Healing all at the same time, and it's working pretty well.

I raise healing by equipping and unequipping a magic wizards hat, which lowers my health a little allowing me to heal.

so my macro goes like:
Use skill Stealing
wait for target
Target packhorse
lift pouch back into packhorses bag(I don't bother with if conditional, it just wont do anything if i fail, and works if i succeed.)
pause 11 seconds
lift magic wizards hat (put it on)
lift magic wizards hat (take it off)
double click bandages by type
target self
use skill hiding
pause 11 seconds

just make sure you have enough bandages and you can run this shit all day.

Alternatively you can use an organizer agent to move the bag to the pack horse.

Or just set it in your razor macro. It's a short Macro

I got from 50-91 over night.

at 50 skill I had a pack llama i owned. put two bags on it and 4 bottles in each bag.

Kept one on me while I made the macro. Record the macro and select the stealing skill target the llama, then pick up the bag in your pack and put it on the llama then stop the recording.

I only kept the bag on me in case I failed and needed something to put back on the llama for recording.

If I recall correctly

4 bottles in each bag took me to 70ish.
5 bottles took me to 85ish
6 bottles took me to 90ish (currently still running it) so I'll see if that gms me

As I recall, you only need to be in the thieves guild to steal from blue players.
You should still be able to steal from grey/red/green characters when not in the thieves guild.

This is correct. Also, the "all guard" command on your own pack animal does in fact work on this server. No need to multiclient macro this, you can safely sit within guard range and steal from your own pack animal without going grey using the all guard command.
