I'm new and just started

I'm new and just started

This sounds like you are COMPLETELY NEW. This game can be complicated at times but is very fun. There are lots of ways to make gold in this game. When you are new it is dangerous to attack monsters, but it is possible and they do have gold. Since you are new it is safer to do things like Mining, Lumberjacking, or Shearing sheep. To do these things you 2x click a tool that is appropriate for the skill. To Mine: you need a shovel or pickaxe and a mountain. 2x click the pickaxe then 1x click the mountain. Your character should start mining. Raw ore should appear in your bag, it is heavy and you cant carry much of it. You need to find a forge and smelt it into ingots. To smelt ore, 2x click it and 1x click a forge. Lumberjacking is a bit easier: 2x click an axe and 1x click a tree. Logs will appear in your bag. You will need a saw or other tool to turn them in boards(which are lighter) 2x click a saw or carpentry tool and 1x click the logs. Shearing sheep is what i usually recommend for the newest players. The city of Yew(ask directions or for a "gate to Yew") has 3 sheep pens around the town. The fluffy looking sheep have wool on them. 2x click your dagger and 1x click the fluffy sheep. Wool will appear in your bag. Collect as much as you can carry or find, and put it in the bank. keep doing this as long as there are sheep with wool. You need to take the wool to a tailor shop. Tailor shops are in most towns (but not Yew) so you will have to find another town to use the wool. Go to Vesper and find its tailor shop(it has 2) take the wool to a Spinning wheel(in the tailor shop) and 2x click the wool and 1x click the Spinning Wheel. The wheel will spin(takes a few seconds) it will give you spools of yarn. Keep spinning wool till its all gone and you have all spools of yarn. Then go to the Upright Loom(right next to the wheel) 2x click the yarn and 1x click the Upright Loom. Do that till your out of yarn and full of Bolts of Cloth. Bolts of Cloth can either be used to make some bandages( good if you have healing skill) or you can sell your bolts to one of the tailors.(npc's walking around the tailor shop) Just type the words "Vendor Sell"(no quotes needed) stand near the tailor and type vendor sell and one of them should try to buy the bolts. Each bolt can get you up to 80g. If they offer much less gold, you can find another tailor shop that will offer more. Shearing sheep is the method i reccomend to most new players. It will familiarize you with the world and how it works, and where things are. You will meet some people wandering around from town to town and through moongates. It is good starting money and its not as dangerouse as some other things you could be doing.

If you do end up hunting low level mosnters for gold, stay away from high traffic areas--most dungeons, the Brit GY, etc. Find monster spawns in the wild. They won't be as lucrative as the high traffic areas, but not being PKd constantly will make up for that fact if you are really just getting started. Also, learn enough magery to mark runes and cast recall. It will save you massive amounts of time, and it will save your life many, many times.

You can catch me sailing out there.

But I'm still pretty skeptical about fishing for MiBs being a good way for a new player to generate gold. They'd be swimming in level one treasure maps long before they had enough MiBs to make up for the gold spent on the boat.

Actually Level 1 treasure maps are a Good way for a moderately experienced player to make money, even better if they have alot of them. If the player is familiar with completing tmaps all he needs is a good rune library.


I just restocked some tmaps at this location. Level 1 tmaps give you 1000 gold in addition to magic weapons and items, as well as reagents. Even if you buy them for 500 g a pop its still good starting money in relative safety. If your new and are not familar with doing Tmaps but have some/would like to do them. PM me.
