more SA noobie questions

Still trying to sort out what is different between here and origin/past present -

Do spears randomly paralyze opponents? I remember they did once, then didn't.
Can you Deadly Poison weapons? (if so, do you need poison skill?)
For a mage, what secondary weapons would work well without compromising int. Do you need dex for everything else for it to be worth the investment?

Do you have to feed mounts so they don't go wild?

Mounts and stamina - is this affected at all by my dex or str? I've been using an ethy for so many years I don't even remember if horses ran out of stamina before but it's really annoying here. Any way to keep it from happening? (apart from dismounting and dying to a mob of mongbats)

why don't mounts go through the Paupa/Moonglow transporter? Can you walk them through the marble island or Del pass? Is this a bug on the fix list? Seems like a flaw in world mechanics

Yes, you need poisoning to poison the weapon, but you don't need it to use a poisoned weapon.

This is the era of the "tank mage" or "hally mage". Most mages use halberds. Dexterity indirectly affects your swing speed, but only your weaponskill and your opponent's weaponskill affect your chance to hit. Tank mages don't need more than 25 Dex.

Yes, but only if you're not riding them and you don't have them stabled.

The mount's stamina depends on the mount itself, so it varies between what kind of mount it is and how high its Dex is. Try walking instead of running more.

can you train mounts to increase stats on SA or was that a later feature?

Are the stats on mounts random and can you use something like animal lore(?) to find one with more dex?

thanks for the answers. Yes I meant poison skill to use the weapon..

Animal lore does not show a creatures skills & stats here. You would have to use anatomy to directly determine its dexterity, and even then it won't show you any numerical data.

And also, you can train mounts (skill wise and porobably it's STR), however there is no known way to increase their DEX.

You have plenty of time from when the fatigued message displays to when the mount actually stops running to find a clearing to hop off and on your mount in a little over one second.

The Del passage, and Fire and Ice dungeons will allow you to pass through with your mount that I know of.

Just out of curiosity, can you take mounts thru the serpent pillars teleporter?

Should be able to. You could at one time, that's how I took my stolen nightmares from fallen victims out of t2a to osi map. ;)
