With respect, that's the whole idea of an auction. You take the risk by putting the item up that it won't fetch the ballpark price the seller has in mind. If you want 100K or 125K for something, just say that you're selling for that amount. It's the whole risk/reward thing. By putting an item up for auction you have the possibility for a bidding war and you may get much more than your asking price, but you also run the risk of not getting close to what you want.
You're not the only one who doesn't grasp the concept though. I see it all the time.
All this, "I reserve the right to withdraw the item if I don't like the final bid," crap is dumb and unfair to the interested buyers.
