Any land left?

Post by checkmate »

Can someone save me some trouble? I was looking for about 2 hours to place a large brick house and couldn't find anywhere. It leads me to ask the question is there any open land left in this world or am I SoL and can only place a small if lucky?

Smalls you can place in alot of spots.

larger houses, chances are you will have to find something that just decayed or just go to the housing forum and buy one there. Larger Houses dont cost that much more then the deed on this shard.

Beats running around for hours at a time attempting to find something.. That time could be spent farming gold at a much higher rate then the cost of purchasing from someone else.

Lots of places to put smalls. Anything bigger will be a challenge to find. I placed a 2-story a few weeks ago so I'm sure there are some places but they might not be so obvious.

There seems to be a group of players who play the role of real estate agents in a way. They run around looking for spots to place larger homes and then sell them at a slight profit. This is a good thing in my opinion, because I can't stand doing it myself.

Your best bet is to purchase a placed home from a reputable broker through the trade forum or the IRC channel. That's what I did, not because I couldn't place an L-Shape, but simply because I lacked the attention span to do so.

But there are many, many places for smalls if you want to go that route.

Ok anyone complaining about no house space doesn't know WTF they are talking about. I know someone who just recently placed 3 towers and found spots for about 8 smalls.

The spots are there people, you just have to find them, travel the map and you will come across spots or IDOC's. Houses are falling ALL THE TIME on this server!

For two story spots, try looking S, SE of Trin. I found a couple possible L spaces when I was jogging through there yesterday.

Tip for placing - The ghost image of the house is only correct if your UO window is in the top left corner of the screen

I haven't run around in the wilderness for a while, so sorry I can't be more insightful

Wow. I never knew that, and it completely explains some trouble I was having recently placing a 2 story.

Thanks!

i ran around the other day. There are places out there that will hold a brick unless they were taken since then. Just look in remote areas.

Sometimes you can find a spot in not so remote places. About a week ago I found an open spot that just screamed that it could hold a large house. Was annoyed that I didn't have the cash to buy a deed and find out.

Not too long after that I ran past the same spot, and sure enough, someone had placed a patio.

Seems to me the REAL problem with real estate here is that one is hard pressed to place anything in "Ideal" areas. Meanwhile, those who are willing to search within the armpits of Sosaria find a place to call home- for cheaper than Deed+Small.

Smalls can be placed in most out of the way places with some ease.

Everything larger is pretty much already owned and maintained. A small group of players seem to be making use of the ability to own 15 houses and specialize in watching for IDOCs or buying/reselling most of the good real estate at a profit, so you're more or less forced to buy from them if you want a bigger house.

Fortunately, the amount of new players on the shard (and thus demand for new housing) seems fairly low, so the margins aren't too high right now.

check swamps and ice island. less desirable but probably higher chance of finding a larger spot. otherwise, just buy one ready placed and pay a little extra.
