The majority of newbies who I have run into have mentioned that they heard about it on reddit, so that seems to be the big pulling force for new blood around here.

The other day I had a WONDERFUL idea.

How many of us are SPREAD ACROSS the nation, or even world? I think we have a diverse community here. This allows for a wider range of advertisment. Say even some of us were to start placing adds in local newspapers regarding the "old T2A experience" and how we are reliving it now. This is just one more way we could contribute to the shard by getting the word out there.

Not everyone has internet...also not everyone that played UO back then was a kid. Actually, most of my friends were old and had no remorse when it came to player slaughtering....

Well they're going to be tough to recruit to play here then, right?

I thought this would come up. This may be the case...

However, it also might be an incentive to get the internet once again. It's possible that SOME people may not think they have a need for the internet because MMOs lost the mechanics that gave players the true meaning of "free will" thinking instead of button mashing. It may also just be a figment of my imagination.

Also, for those that DO in fact have the internet, but have no idea that UOSA even exists because they don't use the internet as a library of information, or have yet to stumble across an add, it could be a key factor in bringing them the experience they have longed for.

At any rate, my point is this: Many people read the newspaper. This could be a huge factor in bringing more players to us.

With this in mind, I am currently writing a testimonial to place as an add in the local paper here. If it brings ONE player to the shard then 'mission accomplished'.

A very grassroots approach to this, I think its got more potential then Facebook or google ads.

I wonder how long it would take Blizzard to ban my WoW account if I spammed trade chat with an advertisement for UOSA?? Guess I'll find out.

I came here from Reddit. I saw it in a brief comment in /r/gaming.

It has been the worst/best comment I've ever seen there (wasted 12 days straight here already :P)

If not that, it'll be fun to read all of the nerd rage it will generate.

"OMG STFU UO HAS SUX GRAPHIX AND NO EPIC LOOTS LOLCOPTER GDIAF PLOX"

(that was really painful to type)

Anyway, it's too bad I have no contact information for all the people I used to play UO with. I'd harass them about coming to play here.

I have brought this up before.. but maybe if someone speaks a different language they could tap into a foreign market.. particularly asian and hispanic. I made another post discussing this a while back and was met with the fact that our client doesn't support other languages.. is this something that can be worked out or worked on? is transerv not usable? even if people cant speak english they can still get the client and a walk-through or how-to on installing our client if someone would be so kind as to create this that speaks said language. the foreign users wouldnt be able to talk to people in game really but they would be able to play and use vent or some outside chat prog to talk to each other.. just an idea

Another great approach at getting the word out. If the site was multilingual, I am positive we would have a much more diverse community.

I think this would be a really cool idea. The Internets a big big place. Maybe we should start a thread for fliers and the such we could print off and place at places we frequent in meatspace.
