New IRC Webchat

Hey guys,

As Director of Network Operations for the WildIRC IRC Network, we are always looking for ways to improve your chatting experiences. We have just upgraded the webchat to a much much better, cleaner and faster version. I won't go through all the new features but here are a few:


Completely rewritten from scratch
Supports emoticons
Supports text background colors
Automatic text input translation
Support for CSS stylesheets
New parameters to customize almost everything
Improved webcam module with microphone only support and private broadcasting
External language files and translations to over 20 languages
Countless bug fixes and small enhancements


I know some people had issues with the old chat loading in their browsers. This should no longer be an issue. Im asking for everyone to try out the new chat and provide your feedback and or suggestions here so we can continue to improve your experience.

how do you change the background color?

I think it would be cool to upload a .jpg of your choice as the background.

I, too, would like to change the background color.

I love the new version of the program though. I had issues with the last one where it wouldn't properly load upon opening the window, so I'd have to do it about three times to get it to work (seemed to randomly work about 1/3 of the time). I use Chrome, Sandbox mode off.

Thanks a ton for getting this up Hollyw00d! The frustration of using the old one in IE caused a lot of users to give up.

I take responsibility for the current color scheme, there is a WildIRC site that has the other template options which I cannot seem to find right now. i will post when I do.

What color is default?

I would prefer white letters on black background over black letters on white background if your gonna choose either black or white.

I like default. Basically, anything that doesn't jump off the screen and say "I'M GOOFING OFF!" when someone at work sees me on it is what I'm angling for here

Btw... it looks like Derrick you just paste this code on our site and when we click it, it opens the window as instructed by the code? If that's the case, why not just put one link for Default and one for Black, and people can just click whichever is easier on their eyes or whatever else.

What color is default?

Default is black on white, it's the one you see first when you click on the link above, very plain.
I'll leave this open for a bit longer for other suggestions, and make a change soon.
