Reward proposal: Character switch
I have proposed this before, for 25 pts allow a GM to switch 2 characters between YOUR OWN accounts. Not another person' s account!
25 pts atm is 50 silver which is around 550k. Most people would remake characters, except us rich folk in need of a gold sink.

This is a good idea.

Re: Reward proposal: Character switch
It sounds innocent enough, but it is basically offering skill for silver, which I cannot support.
Re: Reward proposal: Character switch
I do not agree with this idea.

Re: Reward proposal: Character switch
Basically this would give people the chance to re-do past mistakes of making, for instance, two pk's on the same account. Giving them the ability to swap characters around, or worse, players the ability to swap characters over to another players account, opens up a whole can of worms. Call it what you will, it's essentially selling characters for gold (of which silver has a direct value). What's next, skill balls? 7x GM characters for gold? It depreciates the already crippled aspect of character development that I believe to be an integral part of t2a. (I say already crippled because of the accelerated skill gain, and ability to afk macro, and run 3 accounts).
People counter the afk macro debate (and similar convenience mods) with "It's not 1999 anymore, I have to work, I can't spend all of that time developing my character". That is exactly why this does not, nor will it ever feel like t2a. We lack the developing characters. We lack the economy based around developing characters trying to earn resources, and we lack the sense of identity that one develops with the characters in the game due to the possibility of creating a new identity every 4 days. This effects player-player interaction, as well as the inherent personal responsibilities that were present in t2a. There are no anti-pk guilds here, no groups of adventurers (that last more than a month), wonder why?
It's not a first-person-shooter, UO was never about fast pvp, or twitch gaming. It was about developing a character, and interacting with the world and characters around that. Sometimes the victor in a battle SHOULD be the weaker player who happens to have the best gear, or who has the time and effort to put in to developing the various skills and stats.
When everybody basically starts off with a completed character (as they basically do here anyway), nobody experiences the excitement of building something themselves, and putting it to work. The only ones who benefit from this style of development, are those that come to UO looking for a game that UO is not, and never was.

Damn Matron..I was going to post something similar before reading yours.
Although I really enjoy this shard, your absolutely correct regarding character development and identity. I played LS so long that I knew more people than not through past interaction, and reacted based on my past experiences with them. With the watered down character development, skill gain, and multiple accounts, very seldom do my experiences range past my small group of friends. I'm afraid to admit that even though I plan on playing here indefinately, I wonder what my interest will be once I have maxed out the skills of all my chars, and gold is no longer the object of my attention.
If there is one thing that is lacking; its the familiarity of the many different people I used to play with. The suspense I used to feel during T2A is now more accurately described as paranoia. The risk of losing time and possessions based on a bad decision during T2A is replaced with a quick gate from your gm mage on another account. When someone recall's the instant they see you regardless of your name color or reputation(or vice versa), it doesn't allow too much time for interaction.
With all that being said, perhaps some of the responsibily falls on my shoulders. Being a relative new player, I'm also guilty of spending more time macroing than anything else. Perhaps much of this revolves around players on this shard being self sufficient and very knowlegeable about getting from point A to point B the fastest. Only having one account with 5 chars would solve many of the issues I have with the shard...but I knew when I signed up 3 accounts were available. Besides, I don't make the rules nor do I pretend my point of view is consistent with everyone elses.
