With all of the holiday season commotion I fell a couple weeks behind on my podcasts. On a trip to the airport this morning, I got a chance to catch up and found a surprise in an episode of 'The Moth'. It is a short story by Richard Garriott about his life and his trip to outer space. You should check it out if you get a chance.

TLDR;
Garriot talks about his struggles to getting to space as a kid. Got rich, bought space ticket, 2001 crash, sold ticket, got rich again, bought ticket, life surgery to remove liver problem, heads to space. A more proper title would be "Garriot talks about his hardships to get to space". There was like 3 sentences about actual space.

For UO perhaps, but basically all of the items and storyline comes directly from the older Ultimas.

It's interesting that Ultima was an RPG with lots of emphasis on the social aspect of the genre. UO is the rare MMORPG where the social aspect is a huge part of the game, it is more enjoyable and makes more sense than themepark type MMO's like WOW which can be very anti-social.
