Young shard

Post by Panthor the Hated »

Interesting to see that most of us here appear to have been the 12-13 year olds that were annoying everyone on OSI. The 'Reapers' as it were.

I'm sure we all feel we were the one 12 year old that wasn't annoying and who knew their stuff. Just as I'm sure we all feel that we're the only ones who act our real age now.

Obviously I'm the only mature person here just like I was on OSI though.

I was 7 when UO came out. You're all old compared to me (except for the people that have their kids playing D: )

I was playing UO at 15 or so but I was more of a good guy. I did some minor griefing here and there when I saw opportunity but usually I was a blue and treated others as I wanted to be treated.

Sounds boring! Is that why you quit OSI?

I started playing when I was 11 but basically got scammed all the time and had a poorly created warrior that I'd roll into despise with. I didn't learn UO completely until I found free shards when I turned 13-14 but it was during the transition into AoS. I found this shard almost 2 years ago and haven't looked back. I just turned 22 a month ago(same birthday as the shard, Dec 14th) but I think there are people younger than me.

Yeah I always thought it was weird that most here are in their early or mid twenties. That's how old my friends and I were when playing on OSI. Honestly I thought that's how old most people were who were playing back then. Guess I was wrong!

I was one of the little kiddies playing OSI back then with a poorly made warrior and a misspelled name.

I was 14 when I started.

My character was a tank mage named NiGhTsHaRk. But I'd walk around talking in the best english I could write, and speak in thees and thous half the time. Made little sense.

I quit OSI because of other games coming out, then eventually UO:R was out and I lost interest with lumberjack warriors and scribe mages or whatever was coming out at that time. It wasn't that boring being blue, especially in the Great Lord/Dread Lord days when huge battles would break out in deceit or graveyards, or west britain pass/crossroads. No statloss meant that reds were more ballsy and less gank squad oriented.

I figure the older people who played UO are busy with kids, marriage, and probably don't know much about free shards.

I was 16 when I started on OSI in 99. I remember staying up all night and then having to drive my siblings to school in the morning.

I dont know how I did not fall asleep at the wheel and kill everyone...

I never got really strong on OSI, i think my mage at most ever had 90 magery when my mom cut the service cause my grades were falling, heh.

Didn't get "good" untill ShadowBane when I was in college and could play all day, same with WOW getting gladiator titles and shit.

Now i'm married, days are behind me. I'm the carebear now. If I was this age and playing UO for the first time, with my mentality now - I may have wanted Trammel, lol.

i was probably 14? when i started playing, my buddy and his dad/unc had a guild and i joined up, they taught me the rights and wrongs...clearly the wrongs won out as i idolized galad and did everything in my power to be just as bad if not worse than him, thats not to say i was a total asshole most of the time, (i was a great guildmate). then pub 16 hit and the game suddenly got a lot more "carebear" esque and i lost interest over the years

i checked back every so often and saw the game i once loved go further down the crapper with elves, orcs, boogie monsters, and whatever the hell else EA wanted to shat out and shove onto code. These days though i'm much frendlier, much less greif orientated. i'd like to think it's because i see this great thing here still in it's infancy as far as player base is concerned and i want it to grow and not run everyone and their brother off

Hey
Ya, I was 13/14 when I started back in 98. I played Napa through until UOR then I played Chessy when UOR came out....never played beyond UOR though.

I got my feet wet before I really went crazy but I loved running around killing or stealing from whoever I could. I also know that many of them were older, married couples as well.

Funny how time flies.....
